I will hoot the 240 if a relative of mine happen to be extremely generous to me with a giant red packet during cny or I happen to strike a lottery. Aside from the above unlikely scenarios, I highly doubt I can afford it.

The ZX1 is highly considerable though. I might just offset my AK120 to get a ZX1. Still pondering should I wait for local set or get it directly from JP.

i thought the front look of the ak240 is quite ugly... but the side look just proof me wrong...

it's damn fugly from the side look too..

zx1 I think better get from local... since the price different is not that much... factor in the shipping and warranty.. unless Sony zx1 is int warranty..?

(which initial reviews say AK240 is worse off than)

best overall SQ AND storage, iRiver AK120 titan > sgd 1.9k
(which AK240 has an advantage of only 64GB more, and in terms of SQ,
the gap between HM901 and AK120 is small, AK240 in between.
Is it worth the extra sgd 1.3k?)

best price to performance, iBasso DX50 > sgd 0.35k
(this is no brainer, not as refined as any of the top players but at a
fraction of those player prices, it's not that far off in performance.)

best commercially known dap, Sony ZX1 > sgd 0.9k
(surprisingly, looking at built quality, storage of 128GB, SQ, UI, etc,
the Sony ZX1 is looking the most balance fair value player of the lot.)


Honestly, cannot see where or how iRiver can hope to sell the AK240 at a potentially speculative price of USD 2.5k (or sgd 3.2k).

Like what they say once bitten, twice shy. Can go ask those iBasso users ard who have owned their players before, you think based on DX100/DX50 firmware track record, in terms of UI usability they can manage to beat Sony? Impossibiru that's what i can tell you, w/o even having to try the DX90.

And that's not a biased statement from me, alot of bros in here already shared their thoughts with me before alrdy either via PMs, or through random occasions when we happened to have met each other irl. Even based on my demo impressions of the AK100/AK120, I have to honestly say iRiver still have some catching up to do when comparing to Sony's current line-up of Android-based Walkman DAPs.
