SingTel mio TV to launch free-to-air channels in HD | The Straits Times Communities
SingTel mio TV has announced that theywill be the first pay TV service in Singapore to launch free-to-air channels - Channel 8, Suria and Vasantham in HD format.
Singtel mio TV customers will be able to enjoy these channels in HD from Jan 24, 2014 through their SingTel mio TV set-top boxes.
The channels will be renamed Channel 8 (HD), Suria (HD) and Vasantham (HD) and will be available in addition to HD 5, which is currently available to our customers.
Even if Starhub follow Singtel in launching HD, subscribers still need to have the HD box in order to watch HD right? The old box cannot watch HD even if Starhub launch free HD.

Yup. That is right.
You also have to make sure it supports DVB-C too.Like that might as well buy a China made HD box now. From what I know, Starhub HD box cost about $2+ per month additional compared to the old non HD box.
Which of these combination will work?
