You didn't receive any SMS on the pre-order? I don't think any one of us received call from Sony Stores. Then just wait for 01/05.

Ya didn't... waiting for ppl to back out.

You're not alone bro, no-one called me despite me leaving my contact details with them prev with salesrep @Wisma Isetan Orchard branch. I think they might have been quite busy cos when I called up each branch myself to check availability of the preorder reservations last Fri, the Wisma branch did not pick up the phone at all when I called ard lunch time. I called up SLS V3 branch 1st, after checking no slots then I called Wisma den followed by Marina Sq IITS myself. Secured a slot at Marina Sq outlet and went down for payment that same evening. I was very lucky because on last Thurs evening, one of the kind bros here informed me beforehand liao so I took the initiative stance to call them myself the next working day.

No choice, guess u just have to wait for the official release on May 1st?
:(:(

Seems that couple of you guys are searching ard for protective covers/pouches suitable for the NWZ-ZX1. Just thought I will come in and share with ya guys I had recently imported in some Vannuys pouches specially made for the ZX1 from Japan for Randius and myself.

Here's the exact model of the pouch that I had ordered, it's called the Muketsu Sony carrying case, their HQ/direct online store is located in Tokushima Prefecture actually but if you do a model search by typing バンナイズ VC515-00-ZX1 via Amazon.co.jp's search engine, you can actually find them being listed as one of the 3rd-party merchants on Amazon's catalogue and they do showcase some other variants of pouches under their listings there too.

Their main fabric material for their pouch/cases are typically made up of Ballistic Nylon material. Vannuys' original website is mostly in japanese they do not provide any english description for their products, but I have been using some Yoshida Porter bags myself for a couple of years now, from what I understood from Porter's UK website one of their line-ups 'Heat' series are also made up of the same kind of fabric material as well, and as you can see under the product description it is advertised as heat/friction/rip resistant, also used to make automotive airbags or bulletproof vests.

I can't find any other users comments in here abt using the Vannuys pouches despite that Randius told me he saw someone shared before in here, but I did a check on Head-fi and one of the mods AnakChan had posted some review inputs as it seems he also currently owns this Vannuys pouch meant for Walkman ZX1. As you can see from his comments, this pouch managed to protect his ZX1 well despite having being dropped before on the ground inside the actual case once, with also the ease of ability to access the side-ctrl buttons easily while kept inside.

This is actually not my 1st time purchasing Vannuys cases/pouches, back in 2010 I bought 2 lenses pouches for my own Sony E-mount lenses to protect my own camera lenses as I'm not really a camera bag person, so I would prefer to use a standard bag with such cases to protect my lenses. You can find a listed catalogue of the kind of cases/pouches they provide for Sony E-mount sys/digital cams, as well as majority of Apple products such as Macbooks/iPad cases if you search on the left-hand side bar under their website.

I do have to warn potential buyers here that generally, Vannuys' products are hand-made so these are usually not avail in ready stock after placing an immediate order, under their website disclaimer they did made a notice telling customers that there is typically a 'up to 20 days' duration waiting period upon successful acceptance of orders, before dispatch.

According to what my friend told me who handled my order on my behalf since I can't order and do payment myself since I used their direct store, from order to dispatch to my friend's Saitama address in JP it took abt 28 days actually. If you check Amazon's listing, there's one user review in there written by a username called 'Stranger', for his case it took easily 20 days for his product to arrive so try to expect up to 3 weeks waiting time or even slightly longer due to various circumstances. (when my friend submitted the order back in early-Feb, Kanto areas in JP have been hit with heavy snow storm conditions everywhere so could have been one of the delay factors)

I hope the above info helps.

That's def great news for you, bro! Now all that's left is to play to waiting game.
:)

Can't wait to receive it and do a A/B comparison to the NW-Z1070, seems like there's only just a bunch of us owners in here still using the Sony NW-Z1070 right now actually. I think most pple have already moved onto the DX50's or iRiver AK series liao.

Yup haha 2 weeks to wait. Those devices ppl switched over has narrow soundstage which makes live music in concert hall sound like in studio. Ultimately the important thing is they enjoy their music more then is worth the upgrade.

A High-End Audio book says that he also prefers larger soundstage than other aspect of sound.

"Soundstaging is toward the top of my list of sonic priorities (after tonal balance and lack of grain). The ability to present the music as a collection of individual images surrounded by space, rather than as one big image, is very important to the creation of musical realism.
A large contributing factor to musical involvement is the impression that the music exists independently of the loudspeakers—that is, when we hear music as existing in space rather than attached to the loudspeakers. A soundstage with space, depth, focus, layering, bloom, and transparency is nothing short of spectacular." - Robert Harley

I was quite lucky. I pre-order the zx1 from amazon and had it sent to my sister's hotel when she was in Tokyo. I heard that it was sold out within the 1st week of it's release.

Those who have it. Does the player have L/R panning option?

As far to my knowledge, from the preview coverages I have saw of the ZX1's settings menu, no I'm quite certain it does not have the L/R panning function. You might need to look into the Astell & Kern AK240 or older Cowon DAP models if you require something like that in terms of portable DAP features.
