Is Bizgram authorised retailer for Synology NAS?
Their price is like IT Show.

Need help to migrate from DS212J to DS414

What I have:
DS212J
2x 2TB Samsung F4 Hard Disks
RAID 1
with latest DSM 5.0-4482

2x 2TB Samsung F4 Hard Disks (Spare)

Suggested procedure:
1. move disk 1 & 2 from DS212J into DS414 disk 1 & 2
2. power up and configure
3. hot plug in spare disks into DS414 slot 3 & 4
4. use manage to convert RAID 1 into RAID 5.

Am I doing right for the migration or additional steps required?
Thank

I just bought a 214play with 2 x WD Red 4TB.
The problem is when it goes to hibernation mode, it does not wakes up. Not even when i press 3 seconds on on/off button.
Anyone having the same problem?

You should use the web login or mapping drive to wake the NAS.

The switch is only for power on or off.

It should automatically wake when you access the shares. A NAS is a set and forget - you shouldn't have to be going near it once it's set up.

If the NAS goes into hibernation, you need to give it time to wake up the harddisks before you can access the NAS. This can be anywhere from 10 secs for WD Red to 20 secs for WD green. And you have to wait for all drives to wake up before you can access it which means your wake up time is the time of the slowest disk.

my issue is the opposite. It wakes from hibernation even when I am NOT accessing it.

If you access ur NAS, it will definitely wake from hibernation.

I am currently using DS412+. I want to set up a backup/sync between the music and photo folders on my DS412+ with the harddrive in my computer. Can any provide me with the know how on how to set this up? Should I use the cloud service or is there a more easy method since the home computer and the DS412+ are connected to the same network.
Thank you all! even a link to the steps on how to do this is great!

I am using this. This is a very flexible and highly customisable back up.
All the info is on the web site , read up.
