Great Summary!!

Question what SW or Device did you use to track your bandwidth utilization?

Like to try tracking. thanks!

If you're a VQ subscriber, VQ provides Cacti bandwidth monitoring for free as a value-add. This is another plus point for me, because i don't need to set one up myself.

It gives daily, weekly, monthly and yearly graphs. Quite interesting.

URL: Login to Cacti
Login credentials can be found in your "Ready for Service Notification" when you subscribed to the service. Or maybe NOC might be able to help.

If you're not a VQ subscriber, then you can go down the slippery path of:
1) Install dd-wrt firmware for your router (I heard it has built-in monitoring)
2) Setting up your own monitoring system (have fun)

Should be done for almost everyone already - just in case you were missed out or there was some glitch - please email noc@viewqwest.com with your subscriber name and postal code, to check if they can re-provision your upgraded speed.

The Asus RT-AC68U is VERY worth it if you need fast wireless (especially if you have AC enabled devices, thats when it really shines). If you're home is mostly running a wired setup with Cat5e or higher cables (which is really the best way to go for fiber speeds :D) and you're only using Wifi for light usage on phones/tablets then i'd say the Zhone is fine.

Freedom VPN will unblock access to various sites (full list here: Freedom VPN | ViewQwest Pte Ltd ) - for certain sites you may still need to pay a subscription fee (Netflix, Hulu+ etc...). In terms of BPL sadly the only supported site that carries it is SkySports/SkyGo and the subsription fee is pretty expensive :( - FoxSoccer2Go has Champions league and the other major competitions for various sports, not 100% sure about Euro though.

That's correct, we only accept payment via credit/debit card (so long as debit card has VISA or Mastercard logo).

Setup fee is $79.25 for all plans, that's the only 1 time payment at the beginning - after that it's just the monthly sub :)

The usual lead-time is around 2-3 weeks. We'll give you the earliest date possible - but if you'd like to change a later one that's more convenient for you, you can let us know.

june got promotion right ? i wait for june then.

how exp is the SkySports/SkyGo subsription fee, if the total cost is cheaper than singfark. i can accept. anyway i subscribed lousy mio tv for football only and yesterday just cancel.

i don need wireless, cos me always use wired. modem besides pc. and im the only user in the house. my siblings got their own connections.

Welcome to the club. What plan are you on with ST now?

I'm on the VQ 300mbps plan, and this graph shows my bandwidth utilization for the past week. Should be faster than what you're getting now.

Is the Asus RT-AC68U worth getting ?
VQ provides a Zhone router. It's pretty fast and reliable for a home router. You don't need additional network devices unless you need wider wireless coverage, or if you have a big house. I'm using the Linksys EA6500 on bridged mode. Asus were struggling with firmware issues last year, but the situation appears to have improved.

and does that means if i subscribe to freedom, i can watch BPL, champions league, Euro, world cup for free ?
BPL: You can't watch BPL for free - you'll have to subscribe to skysports, which is £35 a month. Details -> Sky Go and Sky Go Extra - Watch TV from Sky on your mobile, tablet or laptop

World Cup: On the plus side, you can watch World Cup for free on ITV and BBC. ITV and BBC have split up the matches between themselves.Schedule -> Fixtures 2014 | World Cup | Football | Sport

On the negative side, Freedom VPN is a weak link in VQ. I've been plagued by various issues since day 1. Currently, BBC live TV doesn't work on my ViewQwest TV box, but works on my PC. Ticket open since May 1 and pending resolution. Previously, it was connectivity issues and jittery streaming, but that's resolved earlier this month (after about 3 weeks). Hopefully it doesn't break again.

Euro: No news yet. Chances are, it'll be similar to the World Cup coverage as UK is a participating country.

Champions League: Most matches are available on ITV. If not, subscribe to skysports day pass.

The rest of the qns have been answered by the VQ team here, which is pretty active, and that's a definite plus.

my current plan is 100M Fibre Ent (Fibre 100M/IPTV/Tel)

wah jin chor 70 sgd per month.. :( for watching football.

as above, don't need the wireless function.

Worth mentioning is that while the subscription sports pass services ARE relatively pricey (compared to free) - they should be pretty competitive.

Also I believe some soccer fans have mentioned as well that these packages usually include highlights and other bonus video footage which might seal the deal :)

when i get viewqwest next month then decide how.

Just realized the recording isn't as smooth as it looks though, using an old Mac lying around to record it :S

But yeah the stream is smooth at all quality settings.

Question on buffering...

HI I am using Zhone router as the main router and the ASUS RT-AC66U as AP mode. I notice that buffering during streaming on my cellphone through my home WiFI appears to be slower than when I'm on the 3G network. For example, i watched football highlight on Footylite using my cellphone on home WiFi, and I alway notices that streaming is lagging and the buffering does not move much. But when I switch to 3G, the buffering is much faster, and streaming is much smoother. I believe the home wifi should be able to to perform better than 3G. My speedtest shows it is faster... Is there any setting I can check on the Zhone or the ASUS to improve on this? Thks in advance!
