HI I am using Zhone router as the main router and the ASUS RT-AC66U as AP mode. I notice that buffering during streaming on my cellphone through my home WiFI appears to be slower than when I'm on the 3G network. For example, i watched football highlight on Footylite using my cellphone on home WiFi, and I alway notices that streaming is lagging and the buffering does not move much. But when I switch to 3G, the buffering is much faster, and streaming is much smoother. I believe the home wifi should be able to to perform better than 3G. My speedtest shows it is faster... Is there any setting I can check on the Zhone or the ASUS to improve on this? Thks in advance!
Try downloading the latest firmware from support.asus.com and upgrade your router's firmware from the downloaded file, see if that improves the wifi

Guys is it normal that the CSO takes more than 1 day to reply an email? Got a quotation for a business plan yesterday afternoon. The contract was quite vague so I asked some questions that my boss would ask, but the CSO hasn't replied :s22:

Hi all,

can some network gurus comment on my strange problem.

I'm on Viewqwest and pretty satisfied with it so far BUT...

there are some websites which I can't access,
for example - sgcarmart, mycarforum, carmall.

I can't access these sites from any browser on any device (PC/Android/iPad) thru my Viewqwest connection.

Doing a tracert shows "Request timed out" after reaching qala.com.sg servers.

So far, all other websites (AFAIK) work as per normal except for those I listed. Using the 3G on my Android, I can access those sites as per normal too.

Called Viewqwest Support and they said they'd look into it but it's been a couple of days and I haven't gotten a reply yet.

Does anyone have any idea what's the problem?

Hmm are you speaking with sales or specific account manager? Maybe PM @viewqwest or myself and one of us will get them to contact you directly

Hi Thanks..I already did on Saturday. but still the same...

Rgds
Hmm - could it be a hardware issue?

Anyway, you can try manually setting channel on 2.4GHz and force to 20 MHz mode, see if your phone is able to connect after that?

Considering between apple tv or viewqwest tv, any thoughts?
The Apple TV lacks expansion in terms of being able to install Android apps onto the VQTV box, which includes features like web browser, BBC iPlayer, etc.

Basically the VQTV box supports nearly every Android app that works on generic Android phones and tablets.

However if you have an iPhone or iPad, I personally prefer using the iPhone app and using AirPlay to beam it up to the big screen using Apple TV. Apple TV's interface is much smoother and the remote is easy to use.

On the other hand, if you don't have any iOS devices the Apple TV is limited to Apple's baked in apps (Netflix, Hulu, Crunchyroll, etc. full list here: Apple - Apple TV - Access iTunes, Netflix, and more on your HDTV.)

Don't think it is DNS issue, else the rest of us will face the same prob by now. Probably some routing or connectivity issue (can be either ends).

One experience to share: Many years back, I had problem with access to HWZ Deluxe servers (non-deluxe no issue) from office's broadband connection and after much pain working with various parties and finally got the attention of HWZ through Mods, it was pinpointed to HWZ infra (HWZ staff reverts it's due to their IPS). It took 2 months or longer cause HWZ just ignored and when finally responded, they didn't acknowledge it's their end causing the problem until I spent much effort to gather evidence to prove to them.

My point is, don't be so fast to blame ISP. Sometimes, fault may lies at the content provider's end.

Just curious - is your WAN IP (whatismyipaddress.com) starting in 132.147 - and it does not work?
