amex ascend 2nd yr annual fee issue

this card has been in th market for more than a year and my one is due for annual fee next month.

does anything been charged annual fee already? can it be waived or if not, can we still get the hotel voucher and the lounge coupons?

i dont mind pay annual fee and get the voucher since i will be using it in NYC in coming july...

you can just pay for the benefits which may surpass what you pay

I currently hold the AMEX Plat Cards and have been billed for annual fee for the Ascend Card.

Called CSO to cancel card and was told that they are prepared to waive 50% of annual fee if I do not mind keeping the card.

Shared that I hardly use the card and the benefits are pale in comparison to the other miles earning card. Thanked her for the offer and requested for her to proceed with closure of account.

They will still give you the same set of vouchers for 50% annual fee waiver.

Just hope that can be used next spring for the new M&C hotel in Ginza Tokyo if it is being completed by end quarter 2014.
