Spot silver below 19USD liao.
I've always wondered why and what affects the price of metals at their present prices, and always look for articles to explain particular rallies and slumps. Can anyone shed some light on the drop this time around?

Baffled me too. Could be due to the comex silver contract expiry date end april. It tends to bring down silver spot price sometimes, but not always though.

Don't have to think so much. All prices are being manipulated.

Yeah I totally understand. Singapore is still a fairly small market. Which is why I don't confine myself to just the Singapore market but also active in overseas forums as well.

Wish I could go to Germany cos they really know how to appreciate gold and silver by looking past just their intrinsic values.

If got overseas exposure is good.

When going to US, trading silver or gold coins seems to be a weekly event. But sadly to say, not that "common" in Singapore.

to me silvers arent good investments cos most shops sell at 20% premium above spot, and when you want to sell back to shops or prawnshop, definitely below spot.

Agree with you. A fractional 1/4 oz Gold's premium and spread is lower than a tube(20 pcs) of 1 oz Silver.

It is a pity the Singapore silver market isn't as vibrant for the non-institutional investors. The market over in Australia and the US is so much more dynamic and fun.

It feels much more shiok to hold 2 kilo bars of silver that is equivalent in value to a small 1 oz gold coin. :s13:

Spore remove silver bullion's gst to encourage investment, but our own sg mint does not produce low premium silver bullion. :(

I guess once we have it, those imported silver will be cheaper as well.

Hope for the day to come soon.:)

That will be awesome. I am also waiting for the day when our pawn shops start accepting silvers

I'd rather focus on buying collectibles or semi collectibles.

Due to low spot prices, collectors are slowly letting them go for reasonable prices.

Polymer banknotes

the only money we can burn here is..... hell money :D just joking guys

Aha, is it polymer that is used for the notes. I was wondering as you can't actually tear them and they seem very strong.

The reason I wondered about destroying currency was because I considered tearing a note in a below presentation but with the advise given, I didn't do it.

What coins should we take into stock?

I see that there are some complaints that the Singaporean market for gold and silver coins is small and that there is a luck of supply.

May I ask the panel what coins you are primarily interested in which is difficult to find currently and we'll be looking into if we can stock them.

I don't think supply is the issue but more of liquidity issue...

Hi Torgny,

I would be interested if BullionStar can source for old circulated coins such as Gold St Gaudens, 100 Napoleon francs or Angels, Mexican pesos.

What is lacking is pawnshop that take in silver .

Not only that...those Gold and Silver seller are offering most of the time below spot when they buy from a customer...The high silver premium coupled with selling at or below spot and not widespread acceptance of silver from pawnshop is the problem facing silver buyers in Singapore...Gold does not have this problem at all..

Already stop buying Silver due to liquidilty issue. Kept a X numbers of ounces in case those doom sayer is correct about financial collaspe.

Now only buying low premium gold bar as hedge against inflation/ saving.
