Just curious...
Any of you guys keen to peer at SGIX?

If you are operating an AS at any of the locations provided, VQ has an open peering policy.

You can drop peering@viewqwest.com with your peering location, peer ASN and pertinent details e.g. MD5 if any, and peer IPv4/IPv6.

On the other hand, if you need transit at any of VQ’s major presences, you can enquire with corporate@viewqwest.com - some of VQ’s locations (not just the IXes listed) we are able to provide international L2 lines in addition to basic Fibernet services and BGP.

Hmm,

Do anyone knows a better streaming alternative for blockbuster movies? Netflix is great for US dramas but the movie options are sorely lacking. I am not talking about shows from 1-2 years ago but even those movies like Harry Potter, Marvel series, etc are also not available as well.

In fact, I think my hit rate is less than 10% :p

Anyone have any better options out there? Is Sky TV any good?

Also, any better streaming for HK dramas other than PPTV?

PPTV has a much wider selection of movies. Newer content is also being released in higher quality than the previous 超清 HD setting and is called "BD".

As for HK dramas - http://mytv.tvb.com/

We can enable the remaining 3 GE ports on the Zhone as a dumb switch on special request.

You can PM me your subscriber name and postal code after installation and I can arrange that to be done.

On the other hand, we do not configure VLAN tagging on customer LAN.

you mean you can enable the GE2-4 ports even when zhone is on bridge mode?

Google keyword popcorntime. I can find the complete HP series, LoTR, and also quite a few Marvel series are in there.

GE1<-->Your router WAN
GE2<-->Your router LAN
GE3<-->Other LAN device
GE4<-->Other LAN device
if i understand correctly
this is also workable right?

GE1<-->GE2
GE2<-->GE1
GE3<-->Router WAN
GE4<-->Other LAN device

will the phone still work for this setup?

This will not work. The router's LAN does not physically connect to the Zhone switch in your scenario.

Hmmm very interesting. can explain in technical terms how does this work? VLANs?

thanks Mr.monkey! :D;)

All untagged. Just that GE2/3/4 internally are on a different VLAN so traffic doesn't touch WAN.

But as far as subscriber sees, GE2/3/4 are just a dumb switch.

Cool, as long it meets the scenario that I describe, it's good enough for me, VLAN won't be necessary.

Thanks for the clarity. :s12:

Hi,

I'm interested in signing up the 300mbps plan.
But I don't have fax, is there anyways to signup online or thru phone instead of going down SLS or showroom?
May I know roughly how long the waiting time for installation date if I sign up today.

TIA

Hello!

Yup you can sign up online by downloading the form for your preferred plan here: Price plans | ViewQwest Pte Ltd - then simply fill it out and send back to sales@viewqwest.com :)

Using the latest version of adobe reader you can actually fill out the form on your computer, no need to print out!

The usual lead-time is around 2-3 weeks although can sometimes be faster.

Baidu Cloud Storage (百度云盘)

Anyone using the Baidu Cloud Storage (百度云盘)? How is the download speed like? I'm using DownloadThemAll Firefox extension. And not getting a good speed, only ~180KBps (that's kilo Bytes per sec) download with 10 parallel streams.

Could this be a cap by Baidu or something else?

Also, is this the best routing we can get to China, via Freedom VPN?

Seems that the access via SH (203.117.164.101) has better latency.

My VQ speed is 300mbps.

Thanks

Slow Download for BBC/ITV and NBA

For some strange reason what i watch the World Cup on BBC/ITV it always seems to be buffering and starts and stops. The same issues can be seen on ITV as well. Is there an issue with the feed? Even if i try to watch after the game the download speed is horrible.

Also when i stream NBA TV on my apple tv or roku it seems to take much longer to load compared to when I watch off my computer. Would you be able to advise this is the case?

I have no problems with HULU/Netflix/Amazon TV.

Any help is much appreciated.
