OT..
the guy behind the "ice bucket challenge" had passed away in a freak accident

The co-founder of the 'ice bucket challenge', an Internet sensation aimed at raising funds for research into amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), has died after drowning in a diving accident. Reports said Corey Griffin, 27, died at 3am on Aug 16 at Nantucket Cottage Hospital in Massachusetts, after jumping from the roof of a two-storey building into Nantucket Harbour. He suffered two crushed vertebrae in the accident, a family spokesman told Bloomberg. - See more at: Co-founder of 'ice bucket challenge' dies aged 27 after diving accident

The squad are still decent to a certain extend....player by player we are not 7th place team...I believed what LVG said we need to play to what we have. Since we have too many no 10 so play to that potential.

ya... I will like to believe the team is still good enough for 3rd to 4th.. as for winning the title... it takes both a great manager to "drag" the team to cross the finishing line first.

Paul Scholes: I genuinely fear that Manchester United could be heading for the footballing wildnerness. #MUFC

Paul Scholes: "I am scared for United. Genuinely scared they could go into the wilderness in the same way Liverpool did in the 1990s." #MUFC

Paul Scholes: I am sick of having to criticise the club to which I gave my life as a footballer. But Utd need to arrest their decline. #MUFC

Paul Scholes: Utd need 5 proper players who can hit the ground running & turn around a situation that looks desperate

Imagine you still playing in the team and your ex-compatriot says something like that. Means most of the first team beh kan. You might be wondering if he is talking about you.

I believed we are not that bad....although not that good either. I still stand by the correct positioning of the players in the formation is crucial....

what he meant is finishing 5th-9th every year..

thats e wilderness he's talking about.

not that bad or good? :spin:

without further additions and considering the no. of deadwood, we are at best Everton Spur level. competing 5-7th spot with them.
If LVF can drag the team to make them click in his system, we might finish 4th at best.
but 4th is the bare minimun this year for United, we need to get back into UCL. so its not good enough.
Rojo is not the final piece. he is young and still learning. we need 1 more experienced stonewall at the back if we are missing out on a guard in the middle (Vidal) or adding quality in attack(Di Maria)

Alan Shearer said there are two tiers, 7 teams that will never get relegated and the 13 that can get relegated....

being part of that 7 is not quite enough last year...

Stonewall like none available leh, even have, also say not Rio or Vidic standard.

Guard, you mean like the Vieria, Keano, Mark Van Bommel, Nigel De Jong, Marcos Senna type? I only consider Xabi Alonso the Nicky Butt type, not Keano type yet.

Quality in Attack, ADM will be nice addition, but that price, I rather get a Nicky Butt to mass around in Midfield, drop Herrera deeper to play like a Pirlo.

But no worries, I hope I won't get as much heartache watching us play this season compared to last! :s12:

Here are 13 things you might not have known about the 24-year-old:

1. His full name is Faustino Marcos Alberto Rojo and he was born on March 20, 1990 (on the same day singer Gloria Estefan broke her collarbone in a bus accident and when Beats International's Dub Be Good to Me topped the UK music charts).

2. He can play as a left-sided centre-back or left-back, and has done so on numerous occasions for Sporting Lisbon ...

3. ... but judging by this 'Rabona' clearance at the World Cup he doesn't have much confidence in his right foot. Mark Lawrenson helpfully suggests "he would have looked an ass" if he'd messed it up. NB Rojo should ask Argentina teammate Ángel Di María how to perform a Rabona.

4. He can also be deployed further up the pitch as a winger, which might be why he is so attractive to Van Gaal who prefers wing-backs in a 3-5-2 formation. When within shooting range he is not afraid to have a crack, and has been known to score some wonder goals, including this one for Estudiantes de La Plata (his local side who he joined at the age of 10) ...

5. Rojo did have a good World Cup on the whole and played every one of the 120 minutes during the final defeat to Germany. Indeed, he was named in the team of the tournament having made 15 interceptions, won 17 tackles and completed 191 passes. In the semi-final against Van Gaal's Holland, he helped his side keep a clean sheet, and even nutmegged Arjen Robben.

6. He used to play in Russia (and wore gloves). He signed for Spartak Moscow from Estudiantes in December 2010 on a five-year deal, but only lasted the 2011-12 season after a torrid time, playing only 19 times. Rojo then moved to Lisbon for £3.5m in July 2012.

7. However, 2011 wasn't all that bad for Rojo: he made his international debut. It was a February friendly on home turf, and Argentina defeated Portugal 2-1 thanks to a last-minute Lionel Messi penalty. He has since accumulated 28 caps. And his only goal was a crucial one: the winner in Argentina's final World Cup group match against Nigeria:

8. Good news for United: Rojo can already speak English, according to his leg tattoos, which read 'Pride' and 'Glory'.
marcos-rojo-tattoo_3004759c.jpg

9. He has lots of other tattoos, too:

10. According to transfer rumours, he has attracted the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and ... Southampton, who were genuinely interested in him.
11. He is married to Eugenia Lusardo a model for a Lisbon-based lingerie firm called Dama de Copas. And the couple have a daughter called Morena (who they affectionally call 'More').

12. Rojo means 'red' in Spanish, so it would be highly ironic and mildly amusing were he to join the Red Devils (sorry).
13. Not everyone is convinced he is any good, including this Portuguese journalist:

more spice in Manchester Derby......

The Manchester derby could have a little extra spice for Argentina team-mates Sergio Aguero and Marcos Rojo.

The two World Cup finalists were said to have exchanged angry words during this summer’s tournament after Rojo - who completed his £16million move to Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday - invited his pal, Argentinian pop star El Polaco, into the dressing room after a group game.

Unfortunately, El Polaco is the former partner of City star Aguero’s girlfriend - another Argentinian pop star, Karina Tejeda.

Marcos Rojo and Sergio Aguero fell out at World Cup and will face off in the Manchester derby | Mail Online
