Upgraded Zoysia and Aisyoz's membership to permanent banned for using multiple accounts.

The very fact of clone accounts of banned parky123 is more than enough to qualified for the membership upgrade.

Thanks fellow members for the valuable contribution in the forum to make it an enjoyable place to share experiences and update us on information of the IT industries.
Yo commach, long time no see. How's HWC doing? :s22::s22::s22:

You may wish to consider banning the troll(s) here as well :s13::s13::s13:

It is bittorrent throttling only and not every thing throttling. Weekend is same time and you can get 10% of your subscribed speed for bittorrent. For weekday 7pm to 2am you can get 25% of your subscribed speed.

heh. 10% of speed.

then the bill should also be charged 10% of the total cost

Bittorent is 10% of subscribed speed during weekend peak hours however other activities like video streaming will be normal speed. ST do not encourage heavy use of bittorrent. Understand that 500Mbps plan can get ~ 50-70Mbps for bittorrent. My family usually watch TVB.com live Tv and Azdrama and some time Hulu.

Singtel is getting laggy and slow this few weeks.

Loading hardwarezone is slow.

For Speedtest on Viewquest, telin & SGIX server, I can only max out at 140Mbps for download but I can hit > 200Mbps on the upload using cat 5e.

I normally do not do those kind of speedtest benchmark, but the difference in speed can be felt compared when I sign up about few months back.

Oh well

Actually more pioxity will be given to gaming, video streaming and web surfing over peer to peer. All these are in their ONT or router setting. ASUS router also has such setting too. For me of course more bandwidth should be for gaming and video streaming.

Honestly, where do you come up with this bullsh1t?
Didn't know our routers have BGP :s22:

For ST user it will be better to do your speedtest using ST server. Too many HWZ users. Too much heavy traffic causing it to be slow. Suggest you do a power recycling of your ONT and router to see whether the issue can be resolved.

According to technical support, either the ONT or Router has it. I think it is in the ONT as I do not see it in the router. I can see it in ASUS Router.

Don't trust the techsupport from Singtel. Sometime the support team don't even know their part well.

ONT deployed here is working mainly as layer 1/2 device (Bridge). Mainly use to convert Fibre signal to Ethernet signal.

Routing is normally done at Singtel backend infrastructural. Thus BGP is not done at our consumer router.

Our router at home is actually conceded as end device, only 1 public IP address is lease to our router.

What ever come out from our router will be routed to the default gateway.

During the initial release of fiber network, 2Wire 5012NV-002 on bridge mode able to lease more then 1 IP address to our home Machine.

Agree with you.

Something is wrong with Singtel and the CDN that hardwarezone is using.
It could take 10 seconds to respond.

I use my Houston VPN and loading speed is within 3 seconds.

Singtel proxy proxy.singnet.com.sg:8080 is also lagging.

Something is really wrong with singtel these few weeks.
especially after the changes to the transparent proxy.

I see so the control is at the backend. I will call Singtel to make noise since I will be in sg for the next few weeks.

Well I think I found a way to torrent stuff without throttling, well at least for movies.

By torrenting on your phone, tablet.

On 10 Mbps ADSL usually get max 1.2 MBps on computer off peak hours .

Now on my sony xperia z1 I get 1.1 MBps which is during peak hours .

Singtel 15mbps doesn't throttle BitTorrent. I was getting 2mb/s all the time on my private tracker.

Don't know about fiber

Exactly!

Whatever they are doing to their infrastructure recently is having a very negative effect on user experience. Surprised they don't even realise it otherwise would have corrected by now.

Whatever they are doing to their infrastructure recently is having a very negative effect on user experience. Surprised they don't even realise it otherwise would have corrected by now.

After I did some investigation, akamai CDN for SEA is facing some bottleneck issue.

After forcing to go via LA CDN server, loading speed is within 3 seconds.

The affected CDN 23.75.23.56 is currently causing the massive slow down.

You can try out by setting this to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file:

Code:
184.28.188.154 forums.hardwarezone.com.sg

After that ensure dns is flush.

You will start to notice forums.hardwarezone.com.sg will load faster. The latency is higher, but http request time decrease.

Will have to test out via starhub to see if it is Singtel only issue or CDN issue.

-------------------- update -----------------------

I have tested using my next door Wifi which is starhub cable, no connection issue was found.

Starhub address for hardwarezone is 203.117.152.178

That answer why singtel user is facing that massive laggness due to faulty CDN server.

---------------- Possible Solution ------------------

For Singtel user, to use OpenDNS or Google DNS in hoping that the round robin DNS resolution stop resolve as bad IP 23.75.23.56

---------- Update 2 --------------------------------
23.75.23.X of Akamai is facing bottle neck, if you access hardwarezone via this subnet, you will have the slowness.

Hmm , they throttled me last night. Waited till 2 AM for normal speeds so I could finish my torrents. Using public torrent though.

It's interesting to see different ISP's DNS resolve forums.hardwarezone.com.sg differently:

Starhub DNS:
Code:
admin@RT-AC68U:/tmp/home/root# nslookup forums.hardwarezone.com.sg 203.116.1.78
Server: 203.116.1.78
Address 1: 203.116.1.78 pridns.starhub.net.sg

Name: forums.hardwarezone.com.sg
Address 1: 124.155.223.40 <-- Starhub IPs?
Address 2: 124.155.223.25

Singtel DNS (run 1):
Code:
admin@RT-AC68U:/tmp/home/root# nslookup forums.hardwarezone.com.sg 165.21.83.88
Server: 165.21.83.88
Address 1: 165.21.83.88 dnscache1.singnet.com.sg

Address 2: 23.220.203.35 a23-220-203-35.deploy.static.akamaitechnologies.com

Singtel DNS (run 2):
Code:
admin@RT-AC68U:/tmp/home/root# nslookup forums.hardwarezone.com.sg 165.21.83.88
Server: 165.21.83.88

Address 3: 23.75.23.67 a23-75-23-67.deploy.static.akamaitechnologies.com
Address 4: 23.75.23.10 a23-75-23-10.deploy.static.akamaitechnologies.com

Google DNS:
Code:
admin@RT-AC68U:/tmp/home/root# nslookup forums.hardwarezone.com.sg 8.8.8.8
Server: 8.8.8.8
Address 1: 8.8.8.8 google-public-dns-a.google.com

Address 1: 203.117.152.169 d117152169.ppp117152.cyberway.com.sg
Address 2: 203.117.152.178 d117152178.ppp117152.cyberway.com.sg

I use Google DNS and I don't have slowdowns with HWZ.

Interesting info, thanks for sharing.

Looks like possibly multiple CDNs for different access points.
