It depends on age i guess. I cannot imagine myself going 'classic' in my early 20s.. Mayb some guys at that age have more fore sight, maturity or family precedence to decide otherwise.

I think it looks fine. 1920s dressing. :D

I meant 20s as in age n not 20s the decade.

Is that a picture of yourself? Does look like attire taken straight off downton abbey or the great gatsby (albeit the more rustic version in both cases).

Though I'm very tempted to try out such fabrics, pure wool is just too impractical for my current usage. The prices are a bargain for these fabrics but $200 for a pair could be quite steep for most people. Nonetheless, looking forward to your pics.

Hello Gents

When I was younger and when I was living together with a good friend, I used to have all my shirts (95% of my shirts are white) monogrammed as my pal also almost wore write only.

The monogram was to help us differentiate our shirts. I feel if it's practical why not.

Regards,
Ho
Can i kindly ask opinions on embroidery protocols for shirts. Should it be:

- cuffs
- under sleeve of cuff
- collar
- below breast pocket or that area if no pocket on shirt
- anywhere else (do share where)

Some of my European colleagues shared to me it is not common in their parts as it reflects one being ostentatious / pretentious?

Any thoughts?

Pure wool requires dry-cleaning and such high end fabrics probably wouldn't react well when not washed in the proper conditions?

quoted for truth. our weather.... lunch time u walk out to eat already sweat like mad. I send for dry cleaning once every 2 weeks, sometimes lazy throw into washing machine wash, very fast the wool will spoil one.

nevertheless if got budget really can do, i wear my wool pants everyday. and KBKS did a great job for cutting/fit for me. :s13:

What type of fabric are you guys going to make?

I'm still waiting to collect two more pants from HST from their previous last cut sale.

I must say the fitting is very good and comfortable and the material is good for the price.

You should never ever use washing machine to wash wool product. Definitely will get damaged.

I believe hand wash also will spoil.

Abit disappointed that the HST Blowout Sales only included Pants. I thought it would be a more complete sales considering more people would consider commissioning jackets and such coming to the end of the year. This makes me feel that the Blowout Sales instead of "celebrating 54 years of craftmanship" is just the pants version of the last cut sales they had for suits and jackets a couple of months ago. But well, its their right to have whatever sales they want to haha...just a bit disappointed.

Gents,

I am looking to make a 2 piece suit locally and have narrowed down to two tailors. Kingsmen and Dylan.

Can I please get anyone with first-hand experience with these tailors in making suits to share their experience? I searched through the posts and most of the feedback was Kingsmen design being dated and Dylan having an attitude. :s13: I have spoken to both tailors and found their service sufficient. Personally, I have seen the products of Kingsmen and I am impressed by it.

Will appreciate any advices given nevertheless.

Thanks in advance for sharing.

On average I commission one suit or jacket(with some shirts and odd trousers) with Dylan per month. I really don't agree with comments about his attitude; he's a nice person who knows his stuff and I'd say out of all the local tailoring establishments with a strong online/social media presence, D&S has the most tasteful sense of style.

Thanks BallGag.

I agree. I spoke to Dylan and found nothing wrong with his attitude. I agree his sense of style from his products look good too and I am leaning towards making a suit from him. I was a little apprehensive as I am not sure who makes his suits. Seems like he is only involved in the measurements and design.

Would you mind sharing more about your size/built/suits from D&S? I am slim built and lanky and it seems like D&S favours an Italian cut with minimal padding on the shoulder. I have always gone with a British look with strong structured shoulders to give a masculine silhouette.

Fortunately for me, the lady who served me at Kingsmen was honest and told me they used half-canvas, and never had issues with it.

Do they actually do a full fused jacket?

Never ever go to Kingsmen.

The guy over there told me their fused just as good as canvassed. #facepalm
