Hi all ,

I have a DNS320 . Configuration is JBOS not Raid ,

one 3TB and one 4TB. The Files inside is important to me.

Is there any way to read the files from external HDD drive?

Recently my files cannot be read . suspect one of the HDD or DNS time up? i want to back up the files . the 3TB HDD always goes missing after awhile while 4TB always can be seen so i suspect either 3TB cos the problem.....

so anyone can help? any program can read the program or should i just buy a new NAS and plug in?

Seriously if your data is really that important, you shouldn't be using JBOD setup in the first place!

Now back to recovery, have you try connecting the working drive to a PC and using Linux Live CD or 3rd tools in Windows to access?

Assess if your data is worth the money for data recovery service?

My DNS320L also just uplorry. JBOD also.

Going to recover it using Ubuntu Live CD to transfer the data out and format the drive from EXT4 to NTFS.

Didn't know can t-loan set from D-Link but $50 is kind of expensive imo, should be able to purchase a 2nd hand set at this price. BTW, how long is the t-loan period?

Definitely wu-hua if your unit is indeed failing, maybe can request for an "upgrade" to DNS-320L since DNS-320 is already EOL.

So basically one get to t-loan for free and $50 is what the loan set is worth to them should the borrower decided not to return it. Thumbs-up to D-Link!

Even you are on RAID. If the controller dead. You are done for the day too. Many did not notice this and only focus on harddisk failure.

Don't expect to find separate controller for such a NAS setup, the RAID function is done via software. Anyway, with or without RAID, backup is still needed if one truly value their data.
