With the new AppleCare Plus, my opinion is it's better to buy it together with the device. It will be automatically registered with the device. Otherwise, according to Apple's website, you have to run a remote diagnostic and provide proof of purchase. And then register it against your device.

Just call apple singapore to buy the Applecare +. They will register it against your device.. Diagnostic test is straight forward.. either they email you the link or you can ask them for the link over the phone. done it over the phone with my 6 and 6+.. No proof of purchase required

How to know if my company is eligible for EPP discount? Thanks.

EPP is only for Apple employee :).

Normally, 25% for one-time personal purchase every 1 year.
15% for friends & families (max 3) every 1 year too.

I heard since Tim Cook reigns, they up the 25% to 35% but don't quote me for this as I am not sure.

Not exactly. In most use cases, you're better off buying it with contract with the Telcos.

Singtel has jacked up the price of the device this time round. Here's the maths for the 128GB version (which I shared the summary in another thread) -

5GB/mth from Singtel TCO - $360+$469 + 29.90*24 = $1546.6

Device / Add MobileShare or MultiSIM Service / Savings
AOS TCO = $1148 / $1404.8 / $141.8
AOS TCO w/EPP 25% discount = $861 [Unlikely you can get this] / $1117.8 / $428.8
AOS TCO w/EPP 15% discount = $975.8 [This is more likely but you have to wait] / $1232.6 / $314

Now, if you go with the AOS option, you still need a service plan for it. MobileShare/Multi-SIM all adds $10.70/mth to the TCO, resulting in $256.8 over 24 months.

If your usage is low and can be covered by your existing data entitlement, then buying contract free makes sense. However, if you can't get EPP pricing (or is not willing to wait until it's available), then I'll suggest you get one with a contract and the 5GB bundled data. To be honest, I'll just get the WiFi version if I don't want a contract.

The numbers will skew more in favour of a telco contract if you plug in M1's price.

Again, do your own maths and figure out what's best for your usage scenarios.

I am a bit surprised in a good way that Singtel plans are actually better this year. Normally I would go for M1.

Did you know that there is tablet top-up program for Singtel? You will be paying $15 for 24 months on top of your monthly data plan charges.

It's like installments.

if total amount is about the same,
i prefer to pay more on upfront, then pay less for monthly plan..
cox can earn more cash rebates=D

but still hope for m1 & starhub to waive the registration & sim card fee

haix, why m1 can't order online...
not convenient to go to the m1 shop...
if out of stock, waste my trip to go down....

No, I didn't know about that.
No wonder the one time payment is much cheaper than M1. Thanks for your info.

Where can I find this information? Seems like singtel website never show about the top up tablet payment.I'm first time using singtel website.

Hi ceestudent,

The information can be found on SingTel's iPad FAQ list.

Refer to #11, 12 and 13 on Tablet Top-Up.

Just received a call earlier from Singtel Customer Service regarding my purchase of the iPad Air 2 Online this morning.

For the upfront payment of the iPad Air 2, it has to be paid via Cash upon delivery and gotten a delivery date of 31st October for iPad Air 2 128GB Gold.

Starhub individual ipad price is actually more expensive (~3$0) than last year. For the 2nd tier, last year price is $654. 6GB data plan @ $30/month.

Limited stock but not many ppl buy is good thing mah ;)
