Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti wants to tempt Angel di Maria back from Manchester United.
United boss Louis van Gaal is a big admirer of the former Tottenham star, and is willing to offer the European champions £90m to secure his services.

Real manager Carlo Ancelotti ruled out selling the £86m man last Friday, and insisted he was still a vital part of his team.

But fresh reports have suggested that's no longer the case.

El Economista says Ancelotti is willing to offer Bale to United in order to try and lure Di Maria back to the Bernabeu.

The news of Real's willingness to offload Bale will be a huge boost to the Red Devils.

But they may halt their pursuit of the Welshman if they have to part company with Di Maria - who has three scored goals in eight appearances since his move to Old Trafford.

Anderson refuses to give up on his Manchester United career.
The Manchester Evening News says the Brazilian misfit is convinced he can win round Louis van Gaal, despite entering the last six months of his contract with no offer of a renewal in sight.

Despite suggestions this week that United would consider paying up the remainder of Anderson's deal if they cannot find a buyer for him in January, we can reveal that the 26-year-old has no plans to walk away.

Instead, the former Porto midfielder, who was once tipped to be the next Ronaldinho, is determined to be a part of Van Gaal's Old Trafford revolution.

Richard Arnold, group managing director of Manchester United was at the Web Summit in Dublin chose to explain how United had gone about building itself into one of the most consumed digital media entities in the world, with the “number one and fastest growing Facebook site”, and the “biggest website in the world”, reports SportsPro Media - Sports sponsorship, events & business news magazine for the sport industry - SportsPro Media.
“In terms of our digital media channels, we're directly in touch with 120 million fans. 60 million of those via Facebook. We're engaging with 35 million of that 60 million every month. 38 million - some of the old gits like me - that we're in touch with via email, mobile etc with a comparatively small overlap. And then we've got nascent social media channels.

“It's a big pond that we operate in, so how do we translate that into engagement?” asked Arnold rhetorically. “243 countries in the world where we're getting fans engaging with us. 264 tweets a minute, 400,000 a day about or to Manchester United, and 12 million posts that our fans are generating a month - that's heavily active."

Two and half years after the Facebook launch, United branched out to other channels: Twitter, Google Plus, Instagram, and crucially given United’s claim to have 110 million Chinese fans, Sina Weibo and Tencent Weibo in China.

“Fan engagement underpins everything we do. It drives sponsorship integration, which is a huge source of funds for us; content distribution; database expansion - the 40 million people we're in touch with ourselves over and above our social media platforms - and product sales.”

United have journalists, “content creators”, operating in 18 languages in over 240 countries around the world. Those content creators generate about 3,000 social posts a month. Content has to be “culturally appropriate” and inoffensive.

Arnold supported his presentation with a series of sometimes remarkable slides. The ‘first to three million Twitter followers’ slide puts United well out in front of any other sports club.

Every hour, Arnold said, there are 200 mainstream media news articles written about Manchester United. For every piece of information we generate,160 articles are written about it, and then about 14,000 people will generate tweets about every article or post that we generate.”

That multiplier effect has resulted in Manchester United’s media operation becoming the most engaging in the world. According to Arnold there are more people talking about United everyday on the internet than the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona, the LA Lakers and Dallas Cowboys, even Justin Bieber and Rihanna.

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has explained why he never walks the touchline during games.
The Dutchman's tendency to remain seated in the dugout has been a big discussion point this season.

Van Gaal made his first appearance on the touchline following Chris Smalling's dismissal in last Sunday's derby defeat at the Manchester City.

"I am always on the bench because my philosophy is that we have to prepare our players to play the match and when you are shouting on the sideline, there is nobody you can contact during the game - especially when we are home at Old Trafford,” he told MUTV.

“But at that time when I was at the sideline [against City], it was because of the red card for Chris Smalling and I had to readjust our system. That is why I was there, but normally I am never there.”

Manchester United fullback Luke Shaw sees victory as crucial against Crystal Palace before the international break.
Shaw, one of the Reds’ star performers in recent weeks, says it’s important the team maintain a high level throughout every game and will be aiming to show that at Old Trafford on Saturday.

“I think we’re finding our feet now,” he told MUTV. "We’re all trying to gel together as a team and we’ve shown in games what we’re capable of. It’s now a matter of going through the whole game showing what we can do, not just the first half or the second half.

“I think everyone is seeing what kind of team we’re becoming and hopefully soon they’ll see that through the whole game and the results.

“Getting the win against Palace is huge. We need to start picking up points now, especially after the derby and with a break of two weeks until the next game. We need to come out on Saturday and show people how much we want it as we always do.

“We always go into matches full confidence because we know what we can do. We just have to make sure that what we do in training is taken onto the pitch.”

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney says former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player in the world.
Rooney believes Real Madrid star Ronaldo is rightly the favourite to win the Ballon d'Or award because he has usurped Barcelona's Lionel Messi as the best player in the world.

Asked by MUTV if he felt Ronaldo would retain the trophy, Rooney replied: "I think so. He’s had an incredible two or three years and I think he has certainly overtaken Lionel Messi now as the best player in the world. I’m sure it’ll be difficult to give it to anyone else."
