Going cruise soon. everything onboard would be based in USD.
Which card would be the best?

Consider factors like %cashback, cross border fees, forex rate, etc

Many thanks

Cos there never seem to be a gd answer as if no one knows.

Some say use Amex to avoid dcc
Some say use master for best exchange rate
Also depends on online or offline, and min spend amt

I'm thinking for offline and if can hit spending of 1-2k, uob visa signature
Online and spending 500-1000 use frank
If can't hit min spend sum, Amex true cashback for first 5k, then anz travel.

If online > 1k, or offline > 2k, also Amex tcb or anz travel

Not sure overseas online can get 5% uob visa sig or not
Scb bad rate so dun use Manhattan or bonus saver. Use Amex tcb or anz travel
Not sure of fevo or imagine for overseas.

Does anyone agree or disagree?

We all know deep in our hearts what cards to use for different occasion and already share in depth on how the charges work but many people can't seem to grasp the whole concept of "THERE ISN"T A SIMPLE ANSWER OR ONE SIZE FIT ALL" reply.

Your post already got most of the information, it depend on where you spend and how much you spend. If too difficult to understand then apply for Maybank Plat and just use that for FCY, don't need to think so much.

adding on... some cards has reward points or cash rebate for specific overseas transactions, like Shopping, Dining.

and for 19degC, you're going for a Cruise. take a look at your cruise Itinerary first. Some cruises have stop-overs which allow passengers to go off the Cruise for some shopping and dining.

If the package you bought is on board the Ship all the time, then just bring along any Credit Card for emergency usage or emergency cash withdrawal.

Check with your bank whether is there additional transaction fee for cash withdrawal onboard a Cruise or check with the Cruise company.

maybe you should explore which cards to "spend" on casino onboard. all the cards that people mentioned here already can have rebates maxed out (unless infinite) locally else there are some specifically only overseas transactions can achieve.

I am going on royal Caribbean cruise next month...

I am interested to know this answer too and I had set up an onboard spending account with one credit card. Everything is in USD onboard and I think is very hard not to spend onboard.

How much % do you have to pay for putting $ in the spending acct using credit card?

What it means is to set up this spending account with a credit card, all authorised pessenger will be authorised to make spending and charge to this spending account. For every spending made = charged to that credit card.

Hi, which cruise are you going on btw? Sailing out myself soon so if you'll be on the Voyager of the Seas on Nov 25 then it would be good to meet up for a quick beer some time. :)
