Agreed. Any seller can put a high asking price, the question is now many sets are sold at the high price point, I suspect only a handful, if any at all.

This reminds me of when I bought my Macross Valkyrie from ebay 15 years ago, paid US$1000 for it. I think I'm the one and only willing to pay that price for that toy.

:s22::s13:

to me, I do not consider myself a collector.
I am just buying the current releases when they are on sale.

the modular is a real beauty. going totally into it will seriously hurt the space and wallet.

question: how much is the S$1000 Macross now? :D

Obi-wan from watch looks similar to the one in set 8092 Luke's Landspeeder (below).

Apparently, someone is trying to buy up all the < $400 TH to create a sense of rarity.
Then keep for a few months, push up the ebay price and sell at a tidy profit.

I know of a someone who has the $$, storage space and time to corner the market

well, if he want to just go ahead.
pple need to realised a few things. Lego is getting more popular.
Lego actually release a lot more units per Modular compared to the earlier ones since the earlier ones.. pple don't see it THAT way. So the rarity is there.

The current ones are not so rare since more are made.
you do it as a hobby it is ok... sort of like cover your lego spending.
you do it as a business... jia lat. There is always opportunity cost dah

Easy. I will go to 7-11 and get 2 cmf s12 mf to fill the spaces. Haha

Got even cheaper option, fill it with the Decool Super Hero minifigures.

I'm sure the kids will be more interested in Iron Man, Batman, Wonder Woman etc than some random minifigures. :D

The price for GE is like :s22:

Few months back selling at close to $400 and beyond, now below SRP price.

You just need someone to put an EOL rumour out and price will shoot up, maybe this is the tactics of the ebay sellers!

Kekeke tactics of the evil shop also.

$1000 is in US$, not S$. The conversion rate back then is at S$1780 :)

Ebay had 2 listings right now ranging from US$400 to $500. Both items are used with box, and have missing parts here & there.

Bandai Vintage Macross 1 55 Scale VF 1s Hikaru Ichijo Strike Valkyrie | eBay
