Hi,

I'm planning a trip to Hokkaido again late next May to early June :D Plan is to land in the eastern side and drive down to Hakodate to flight back. As I am going with my family and 2 young kids, we will be trying to change for SQ flight award to fly to Haneda and take a domestic flight, preferably ANA as there is Star Alliance/Experience Japan fare. Any advice on the best domestic flight if I take a day flight to Haneda? If possible, I would like to keep the traveling to just 1 day.

Anyone got advice for me? Looking for options for a day flight to Haneda/Narita and same day flight to eastern Hokkaido.

Best is to take ANA 557 (NH557) from HND to HKD (Hakodate) direct flight.

depart 17:15 and takes 1h20min.

To connect to this, take SQ SIN-HND morning flight and reach HND by 16:05pm.

Bro opt for the earliest morning flight out of Haneda Airport you can find from ANA. Of course, do make sure you have at least 1.5 hrs of transit time from you international arrival from SG to Haneda.

For eastern airports in Hokkaido, you will prob be arrive at Memanbetsu Airport or Mombetsu Airport. Memanbetsu has more flights serving it despite the airport really homely appearance.

Search for your flights timing here

Thanks for the replies.

After careful consideration, we decide to take a SQ day flight, stay over at Toyoko Inn near Haneda before departing for Kushiro late next morning. Weird that there is no early (before lunch) direct flight to Memabetsu (at least for ANA Experience Japan fare) on that Sat.

There is ley..

I rem they have one flight from HND to Memabetsu at 7+am. You will reach Memabetsu at 9+am iirc...

Basically they fly almost parallel with JAL flight to Memembetsu Airport.

You wanna check again?

I checked that the only direct flight for the ANA Experience Japan fare to Memabetsu is 4+pm leh. Flight to Kushiro leaves at 11+am. I didn't check JAL cause it seems the flights can only be booked 2 months in advance.

Anyway, we are traveling with an infant and a toddler so we are padding in a lot of buffer just in case. Plus, our first night is in Kussharo area and the distance from Memabetsu or Kushiro is not much of a difference. Thanks cheefan bro!

Yup good idea bro.

Do give plenty of transit time if you're travelling with young children...

I certainly don't want to see u literally run through Haneda Airport like I did back in May 2013. :s22::s22:

Because of traffic (plane?) jam at Changi Airport, my JAL flight from SG was queuing up/crawling along on the tarmac for a good 35-40 mins before we eventually took off. Maybe CAAS will implement ERP thingy on planes during late night rush hours soon LOL.

My initial plan of having a 2hr transit time was down to just 20 mins when I finally burst through the luggage claim area of Haneda Airport.

Its a good thing JAL ground crew made special arrangements for us and we bypassed all formalities and jump Q and took the monorail to the domestic terminal. We had less than 5 mins to spare when we boarded the domestic flight to Memembetsu Airport.

Eeekk...

My last trip in 2013 I transit in Narita for the Sapporo flight. I didn't factor in the need to change terminal so it's a bit rush for us. Just be focus and know where to go to take the bus for transfer. I was dragging a big luggage (with bottles of water) + a stroller and my wife carry our daughter while we scramble around looking for directions :S

Whoa similar to my experience but luckily my daughter was 4 yrs old then so no stroller required. But she cant run fast

I had to carry my daughter in one arm, pull one luggage along, sling my camera bag, and run up a flight of stairs to the monorail platform at Haneda Airport!

Wifey towed another luggage... Whoa... felt like doing BMT all over again.. haha.. except the weather was at ard 15c back then
