Okay, I am the long term investment type, hoping to hold a few shares of US stocks for long term capital growth and dividend too. Possibly only can buy like less than 10 of each stock, feasible? Don't have USD100k, only USD$2000 at most. Still a student and no income :(

What is the USD 2K? is entire trading account or approx investment per ticker?

Hv u tried trading a dummy account yet?

Btw don't forget custodian fees

anyone holding on to TSLA shares? It was reported last night that they sold 10,030 cars in the first quarter! beats estimates by 1%... They will be releasing model X soon and introduce a new product on 30th April!

who're the bulls or bears here on this stock!

This is why one should visit the scb thread. There is no custodian fees for SCB. And a whole lot of other things are mentioned in post #3600 of scb thread.

That's some good news for TSLA holders after the huge drop. Guess it will create a new high now. Anything below $200 is a buy.

Question...

Is there a way to open order like this:
I put a buy order below mkt price and I want it triggered on 2nd touch. It has to be some sort of buy stop....right :s22:
This is for long.
On IB

On the second touch? I'd just set an alert at the level the first time it touches, then manually place a limit bid when the alert goes off.

I guess the question is "how do you define a touch?". Does it need to go down, then up, then down again? Or are two consecutive prints below your level enough to trigger the order?

I feel like you're trying to be a bit too clever, though. Why not just buy it the first time it hits your level?

Ya, can. I build up my account over time too. I started buying JNJ at USD$62 for 10 shares back in 2012.

U meant custody fee?

$2 per counter (per quarter)per month which is $24 per counter per year.
If you have just 10 stock in US, you will be charge $240 annually for nothing.
I have over 30 counter...

Another thing is if you have just 10 counter, they already charge you $300 commission buy/sell. Scb would only cost you a fraction of that, like $50 depending on the stock price? After that, nothing else, 0 other charges.

So you are paying likely $500++ more for owning 10 counter, and the $$ keep stacking if you keep the stock for long. If you keep trading, the commission would cost a lot.

Also found out DBSV charges $$ for dividends and corporate action which is free for SCB. The savings is big if you collect dividends or have upcoming M&A or whatever action by a company.

Sugguest you switch to IB or SCB if you are serious about investing in US. Of course if you are buying/selling super big then maybe not much difference.

Agreed. If you do plenty of options or stocks purchase/sales that has at least $10 of commission per month, OR total of $100,000 stocks.
Then go ahead and use IB. its soo much better.

If not, use SCB, it is a really so much better than all these DBS Vickers, POEMS that charge u custodian fees....
SCB is great.

Personally I use IB, because i do option sales, and the commission i generated is about $10 per month, so i dont have to pay extra for the market data feeds.

i dont want to catch a falling knife and i dont want to chase either. just want to put the order there and not see it. i'll just keep shifting the levels when i do.

check out thinkorswim as another option.
btw is this USD 2K an amount you can afford to lose?

Well if you are going LONG on the stock, and it is blue chip...decide on a reasonable price, and place a limit order. Then don't look at it. It is very difficult to time the market. Sometimes you manage to buy it rock bottom...sometimes...you can be off the mark. But it evens out if you do your DD. At the end of the day...if it is a blue chip...in time to come...it will appreciate...you just got to be patient...sit back and enjoy dividends while you wait.
