Hi guys,

Need your help please. Noob and non tech person here. I want to watch Netflix on my smart tv, iPad and pc. So far, I have gotten HMA vpn already plus also got Netflix subscription. The vpn profile I am currently using is a SG one but with US ip. Not sure if this is good choice.

I managed to get Netflix to play on my pc but the image is not sharp. I already connect to modem with hard wire and also changed settings to stream high quality. My internet connection is fibre optic. Any ideas how to get hd quality or at least sharp images?

I am in the process of getting the netflix app on my iPad via a new US iTunes acc. Hope that works.

Last, I just bought a Samsung smart tv which will come soon. Sales rep texted me instructions to add Netflix app. No clue if it will work. Any idea how to watch Netflix on smart tv?

Note. I also have an Apple TV and android box.

Which netflix plan did u sign up?
I don't think yr netflix apps on yr tv will work like that, since is not on vpn or dns, look around maybe there is a way. For me i use my previous router change to ddwrt firmware and use it as vpn router, alot of hardwork to do so.

I signed up for the highest plan, $11.99 per mth.

The 7.99 plan only stream in SD. Only 8.99 & 11.99 are in HD. Which one did you signed up for?

Yeap, confirmed working.

There is NO Netflix app on Samsung Smart TV (I've just checked).

To watch Netflix on Apple TV, just login to your US a/c. You'll still need VPN or DNS to get it to work though.

VPN software on PC vs VPN software on router --> you get 1 connection instead of having the ability to route multiple devices thru your router.

For RT-N56U, I think you can flash DDWRT, but I'm not sure if your VPN provider has any software for the router itself.

I'm using Astrill VPN with Asus Routers on Merlin firmware.
You can see the applet in action here.
And my feedback on streaming Netflix via Astrill.

Wow, didn't know Netflix has so many different price plans now.
I'm on the old $7.99 plan where I get full HD. :D

hi,

with regards to running astrill vpn on the router.

do you use torrent? do you have any astrill disconnection problem using any of the encryption protocols?

i tried to use aes 128 bit. i am getting frequent vpn disconnections running torrent.

my n66u is using the latest merlin firmware.

Hi, sorry, but I hardly torrent nowadays. Most of the things I need can be downloaded directly.

Since you are using the applet on n66u, there are 2 ways to go about torrenting.
1) Choose the Astrill server that allows torrenting
2) Set up your client PC to NOT use the VPN when torrenting.

Hope this helps.

Hi, so does it means i can't do anything until I change the router ?

what is your purpose of the VPN?

for me i prefer to torrent. installing the applet onto the router is not really recommended. it will slow down your torrent because the router doesnt have strong cpu power. if this is the case, i suggest you stick to your n56u. run the astrill windows applet.

Once you turned on your VPN (be it desktop client or router applet), your ISP's IP will be masked and you will be assigned with an IP of whichever country you have selected.

When you run the windows applet, your PC's IP will be under the VPN. Other devices in your home will still be SG IP.

So basically, only the PC running the applet is masked.
The rest of your home will be normal internet access.
