The comment is rather unfair to Rodgers.. By the time Raheem Sterling joint us, Rafa was like 3 to 4 months from the sacked.. So in other words, their time there together was about 4 months only.. And with Rafa busy with the first team fighting for a top 4 spot then, he probably had little time for the youth squad.

Sterling made his first appearance for the first team months after Rafa was long gone.. To say Rodgers takes the credit for bringing them through, he rightly deserved it as he was the one who gave them the chance in the first team..

To be frank, right this moment I can't think of a youth player that actually came through during Rafa's 6 seasons.. Not Owen, Not Gerrard.. Rafa was many things, but bring youth players through isn't one of them unless you consider David N'Gog as good.. In fact he was quite well known not to give youth players a real chance in the first team unlike Wenger and SAF.. Right now, even Ibe is a Rodgers discovery..

Really, your comment is rather unfair to Rafa than.

You choose not to realise he re-formatted the reserves and the academy team, coaches.
You also choose not to acknowledge he gave some of the players deeem worthy of 1st team chances and appearances.
You also rather think without a doubt that BR is better in everything than Rafa so to speak.

Brilliant post. :s13:

The American owners Fenway Sports Group will carry out a thorough review of all areas of the club, including the first-team squad, the coaching staff and the much-debated transfer committee.

The spotlight is set to fall on manager Rodgers in the wake of a season that will end trophy-less and most likely without the team achieving their minimum objective of a top-four Premier League finish.

Liverpool lost 1-0 at Hull City on Tuesday night to stay seven points behind fourth-placed Manchester United with just four league matches remaining. It was the Merseysiders’ 10th league defeat of the season and came 10 days after Aston Villa knocked them out of the FA Cup.

FSG will assess Rodgers’ performance and could even take the step of sacking the Northern Irishman after three years at the helm.

It was reported in the wake of the club’s FA Cup exit that Rodgers’ position was secure but Football Insider understands that no decision has yet been made by the owners.

The likes of Jurgen Klopp, Carlo Ancelotti and even former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez have been mentioned as possible candidates to succeed Rodgers.

Boston-based FSG will consider whether the current manager has made the most of the squad at his disposal this season and will take into account key factors such as the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona and the injuries that have robbed Rodgers of Daniel Sturridge for much of the campaign.

The owners could also make some changes in how Liverpool recruit players this summer.

Even if Rodgers gets the opportunity to continue at Anfield for a fourth season, one possibility is that the six-man transfer committee could be revamped or FSG might even appoint a director of football, something Rodgers has opposed in the past.
it is good to hear that the owners are doing something now. I hope they really find out the real reason for this year failure

German football expert Raphael Honigstein has said that Jurgen Klopp would find it “very hard to turn Liverpool down”.
Klopp3The Borussia Dortmund boss recently announced his decision to move on from the German club and has been linked with a switch to Anfield to replace Brendan Rodgers.
Rodgers’ position is coming under increasing scrutiny after failure to reach any of his pre-season targets of qualification from the Champions League group, a top four place and a trophy.
His signings have been roundly criticised by fans and the media after he spent over £100m last Summer on eight new recruits. And a failure to build on a second place finish last season has left Rodgers open to further critcism.
And Honigstein has added to the speculation about his future as Liverpool manager by promoting Klopp as a potential replacement.
“Speaking to people close to him in November, where it was already on the cards that he might move to England, it was understood he wanted to move to an established Champions League club.” he told Talksport.
“He’s also realistic enough to know that there aren’t that many likely offers from top four clubs coming in.
“At the same time, in so far as a emotional connection, and an ideal fit, Borussia Dortmund to Liverpool is the closest resemblance you can find.
“The fans are a huge part of the club, they also sing you’ll never walk alone.
“There’s a special kind of atmosphere in the city. It would be very hard for Jurgen Klopp to turn Liverpool down.” he concluded

Loan BR out to manage other club first while we continue to pay his wages?

There's a lot of factors which a striker alone doesn't solve.

Chris Bascombe:
As for evidence of a Liverpool title challenge next season… Rodgers must have been visiting the same smokehouses as Raheem Sterling and Jordon Ibe if he thinks this squad is up to it without a significant influx of new blood.

Glen was quoting as saying that a summer clearance is needed (himself included).

Fsg felt a young manager with potential was a risk they could accept. They also think moneyball can be used in bpl and that the arsenal model was the ideal for them. Adopting these meant they could live with the money they have or willing to spend.

The stadium redevelopment can be paid in part from naming rights for stand and commercial revenue. The club won't be paying for the entire sum out of pocket.

Keeping Brendan also has financial consequences which I think is more than compensation for him.

If it was entirely BR fault then good.
But i hope they don't tai chi their own mistakes to BR and make him a scapegoat

In terms of commercial revenue, I always feel that our clubs management wasn't doing enough.

What our FSG owners failed to understand is that AW spent his entire managerial career to transform Arsenal into the only top bpl club which is profitable.

Plus AW is top notch in spotting young talents.

When you look at what AW have managed to do at Arsenal for the best part of 10 years, getting the club into UCL each and every season on such a limited budget...

FSG of cos want to copy the Arsenal model but not everyone is AW calibre...

Sent from the driver seat of my Chery QQ V6 twin turbo using GAGT

The main difference between AW and BR is that AW has been stacking his team with high potential youngsters since long ago, he can afford to lose a key player every year and Arsenal will somehow still squeeze into the top 4, RVP, Fab, Nasri, Clichy, all established first teamers when they left, yet all replaced adequately

BR cannot identify any of these youngsters, no point anyway, seeing how Ibe performed and still lugging him off? Where's the confidence in youngsters? And to the idiot saying Rodgers gave Sterling the chance? LOLOL, given his performance in the youth team and reserves, anyone would have given him the chance given that the first team looked so starved of options at the time, it was not his foresight, it was a necessity to give Sterling the chance

Now obviously since there will be a review, great, whatever the review results in, lets hope for a positive change

Nearly did last season.

Still think Rodgers is a good manager but his ego are failing him, not only this season but last season as well when he refuse to look at his failing defensive unit.

To be honest, was last season success because of BR's tactics or was it the brilliance of Suarez?

To me, he could be riding on the brilliance of Suarez last season.. This season we saw all his failings and even more of his tactic naivety.. He maybe a good manager but he is not good enough for Liverpool

Who are his marquee signings? He wants them doesn't mean they want to join him. In the end he sign Danny Ings and call him our marquee signing.

And BR is also a manager who toes the line and won't criticise the owners in public ('For me, the owners have been fantastic blah blah...)

Totally agree, his marquee signing will be Danny Ings, James Milner and Neil Taylor.. And then there we go free falling to become a true mid table club
