What Manchester United must to do to challenge for the title next year

1 Keep David de Gea
United’s Spanish goalkeeper has suffered a dip in form in recent weeks, but he remains the team’s player of the season, so losing him to Real Madrid would be a major setback. Personal issues could see De Gea push for a move back to Spain, but with the 24-year-old still uncertain about his future, United should fight hard to keep him.
2 Find a goalscorer with pace
United’s 3-0 defeat at Everton highlighted the need for a cutting edge up front, with the team dominating at Goodison but failing to break through. United lack pace in attacking positions, so a 20-goal a season striker with the ability to get behind defences would give them a huge boost.
3 Cut down on the injuries
No team has suffered as many injuries as United this season. Whether that has been due to bad luck or bad preparation, next year has to be different if they are to challenge for the title.
4 Recruit defensive reinforcements
Efforts are already underway to boost United’s defensive options, with Mats Hummels and Nathaniel Clyne high on their hit-list. Both players are a must as United have operated without an established right-back all season and have suffered from a lack of experience at centre-half.
5 Break the bank for Bale
Prising Gareth Bale from Real Madrid will be easier said than done, but the Welsh winger could transform United into serious title challengers. If Louis van Gaal gets even a glimmer of encouragement that Bale will move, United should – and will – pull out all the stops to get him.
• Why United's transfer dealings should be under scrutiny
6 Get the best out of Angel di Maria
The £59.7m British record signing has endured a miserable first season at Old Trafford, but the Argentine is expected to stay for a second campaign. Having been such a key player for Real Madrid, it would be folly for United to give up on the winger after one bad year, so Van Gaal must find the way to get the best from him.
7 Stop harking back to the Ferguson era
United’s incredible success over the past 20 years under Sir Alex Ferguson is now history and the club’s supporters must accept a new reality. The club will always challenge, but they can no longer expect such dominance in a league as competitive as the Premier League.

most of the bundesliga teams do that....

I mentioned before that Bayern Munchen basically has the pick of the best players in the bundesliga

That's why they always make Bundesliga their very own league so easily

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that striker Danny Welbeck will be back very soon.
The 25-year old missed the trip to Hull City on Monday night due to a knee injury and at the very latest, will be back for the trip to former club Manchester United on May 17.

The Gunners boss said: "There's an inflammation in his knee - it doesn't look very bad but he isn't available for selection.

When asked whether he'll be back before the end of the season, Wenger replied: "Yes, I think so. I think maybe next Monday against Swansea, if not the game after (against United)."

Mangala seems like a misfit at mc. Remember before season started or early season, someone here was praising how mc flfh did good business in bringing in a good solid defender.

one cost 60Mp and earns 2xx per week
one just earn 280K per week

and finally one cost close to 30Mp...but was judged to be not fit and had played less than 10 games in this season.

How can he lose out to BR? :s13:

Ah Gaal's press conference used recycled material....boring liao

as for BR, his recent press conference were outstanding....best of which was said recent weeks ago...."....6 mths I was termed tactical genius..... 6 mths later...due to some poor results....."...the media went after him..
even Carragher or some former Liverpool were googling which press said BR was a tactical genius last season !!

Manchester United will go after Nathaniel Clyne this summer after being snubbed by Dani Alves.
The Daily Star reports that the Red Devils are determined to sign a new right-back at the end of the season and will make Southampton ace Clyne their number one target in that position.

It was believed that Louis van Gaal was showing significant interest in Alves but it appears as though the Brazil international is on the verge of signing a new deal with Barcelona.

That leaves Clyne, 24, at the top of the right-back list with reports suggesting United will make a £20million bid for his services.

Too many players talking about next season.

Sorry mates, we still need to battle for 4th.

I hope the manager and giggs drill that into their head.

What's wrong with Chelsea? Jose is encouraging the owner to spend big this summer but the news just came through that the champion is going for Ritchie Lambert that is going to cost them 40 million quids minus the zero.

Hull's game against Burnley this weekend is critical to them, if they beat Burnley, then they would have a spirited game against Spurs which is good for us and a motivated Hull win at White Hart Lane which is unlikely will be beneficial to us as first they survived and they can afford to throw their last game and a Tottenham defeat would mean they will be less of a threat to us. Then if Hull win this weekend and fail to win in the next round against Tottenham, then they would throw everything in in their last game against us to claw for survival which is not good for us. If they lose to us and lose to Tottenham, then it is games over for them and their last game is a mere prestige game.

Tottenham on the other hand has Stoke to deal with in their next game and Everton in their last game. These are easy but difficult considering Spurs late run of form which is not excellent.

Liverpool's live and death boils down to their next game with the new champion at the Bridge. If they win they would be inspired. If not. They would be crest fallen.

Looks like none of the 3 teams are going to get full points in their run in to the Champions League last slot.

So a win over Crystal Palace is detrimental.

I have got the eerie feeling that we are going to lose at least 2 of the remaining 3 games and lose UCL spot

It will be the biggest collapse of a team in the last few games left of a league season. Worst than the one we threw away the title to city few years back

LVG will get a free pass for me this season, regardless we get CL football or not. Winning 2x against Liverpool and trashing city 4-2..... I think he deserve more time as this season can be considered as a transitional period.

Next season is different story liao. Full pre-season to prepare, ample time to buy players, next season really no excuse Liao. The fans will demand the league title. :o

Personally, I think playing Crystal Palace we stand a bigger chance than Tony Pulis team. Palace plays a more attacking game and it will open up the chances for us whereas Pulis is a typical 1:0 manager who parked buses.

If we win this one and draw or win against Arsenal, then we are pretty much there already. May still need to grind out the last game.
