Usually no doubt

people will just wait to collect dividend..while monitor the price is it worth it to sell.

I notice some will rather sell despite dividend is coming.

whereas some hold.

so usually you will sell? IF the price is very good before dividend?

or just collect dividend....after few days monitor again if price good sell..not good keep...

if capital gain is reasonably more than the anticipated dividend yield, then i will sell.
Wait for price drop then buy again.

One thing I noticed..

many people said ..after dividend that stock price will drop well no doubt about it...but sometimes it will shoot even higher.

seem like most of us " standard " will do it

that is a blind strategy.

the moment you identify a red flag or a change in fundamental ie loss of major customer or loss of contract, then you should assess the impact of future earnings. you should not hold if the impact is significant.

what you mean ...

when the price is worth it to sell Just Sell ...even dividend is coming right?

that is true because dividend is less than what you profit ..by selling ...( if of course the profit of your counter a lot )

Just want to clarify, is this thread asking about our strategies to investing or our treatment (buy or sell before ex-div) when it comes to dividends?

this thread is discuss what your " usual " way handle those stocks you owned which dividend coming.

usually people will tend to keep after dividend than sell off.

that why many people say after dividend not surprise that stock price drop because a lot are selling.

Don't be so hard up over dividend. You should buy low risk high return stocks.

The best tactic is to only buy stocks whose price is going to go up.

The best time to do this is after a crash.
