Zenfone Asus Zen 2 ZE 500CL is dual core while this is quad core, right ?

Can give me some quick pointers what I give up if I'm not on lollipop ? Being lazy to check. Thanks if anyone can help.

It should be ATOM processor Q-core.

It's worth the upgrade, IMO. You get a RAM(1GB to 2GB), internal storage(4GB to 16GB), processor(32bit MTK to 64bit SD410) and Android upgrade(4.2.2 to 4.4.4) compared to Redmi 1. :)

Are you ok with the lag ? Tolerable ? You can survive without installing new apps ? If both answers are yes, then no point in upgrading. Might as well wait if you can still use the phone. Prices keeps falling, so if you can wait a year, then you get better features. my2cents.

Good point. After all Redmi 2 is still on Andriod 4.4.4.

my current redmi is a backup phone that i'm using as i broke my samsung s4. after using it for a couple of months, i kind of realised that i dont need that expensive a phone.

i can live with the lag but not the "insufficient" space issue as it not only does not allow to install new apps, it also prevents updating of apps and even basic functions like email. always thought its like some bug or something.

I also have the insufficient space problem also. But I realise that I don't need some of the apps and I deleted them. I also went in to clear up other files, was surprise that I have a number of junks lying around and I move them to SD, eg attachment, download, camera photos, etc. I also uninstall some of the updates for built in apps which I dont' use and then I disable the apps. I won't be prompted to update them anymore. So I save some space. If not for the RedMi 2 Enh, I would probably root my phone and clear some of the built-in apps.

Original means the china mobile enhanced version?
You have to check the Singapore version whether the hardware is identical. If I am not wrong there is a hardware id . For the china version it is 20140813. Not sure about the Singapore version.
I have a china version. It works also for Singapore LTE network although it is stated as China mobile edition.

As a frequent traveler to China for business trips, I bought a Redmi China mobile enhanced version. This China mobile edition is TDD-LTE based but also support FDD-LTE and WCDMA as what Singapore Telco use. It is only that when in China, the support of FDD-LTE and WCDMA is locked. However there is an option in the Sim menu to unlock it allowing the phone to become so call TDD-FDD LTE capable. Frankly TDD-LTE is much better coverage in China with a China mobile prepaid package.

When back in Singapore, I tested on all 3 telco sim and had no problem with LTE connection locally.

At RMB699 or Singapore $152, it is cheaper than the $179 price tag in Singapore and it support all network !

If you don't worry about warranty and have no concern installing google services on your own, I should say it is more value to buy the enhanced China mobile version.

If you buy from XiaoMi China WebStore the following will be useful
联通and电信=LTE FDD Singapore can use 4G
移动=LTE TDD Singapore cannot use 4G
Derived from the following explanation.
移动的是自主研发的LTE TDD,全世界大概有十几个地区在用;
联通和电信用的是国际标准 LTE FDD,全世界大概100多个国家或地区在用。
LTE TDD理论最大速度100Mbps,LTE FDD理论最大速度150Mbps
