Still not cheap enough. 256GB SSD = $110, $0.50/GB. 2TB HDD = $149, $?. Do the maths then we can really know when it will become mainstream

There's always hybrid disk. It's better than 2 years back where 256GB would means 256USD.

Infact it uses more memory haha.

Thumbdrive are good for recovery, I'm using the 64GB thumbdrive for OS recovery purpose.
Wah speaking of which I really hate how the Samsung S6 kills off my apps for no good reason. Really bad software and RAM management. Jumped back to LG and bought the LG G4 which is much better.

Data recovery will be an extra source of revenue. I don't think Samsung will give free service anytime soon
data recovery too complicated and troublesome. later you cannot recovery customer make noise

Wah you say until like HDD can last forever, technology is always moving out fast

i think havent even reach 20% of the lifespan you already chuck it 1 corner and be using some 2tb portable SSD hahah

Haha. Tape, also.. :s13::s13::s13: The Samsung Portable T1 SSD, whilst resist this resist that, if REALLY die, it is harder than HDD to retrieve.

Actually HDD die faster than SSD i think. After all HDD got mechanical parts so more prone to damage especially for portable devices. I think compare Samsung Portable SSD T1 vs traditional HDD, of course T1 win in speed and portability, but also in durability since no mechanical parts..

Unless, u use it quite abit... the heat is very bad for SSD, even the Samsung Evo 850 in the Samsung T1 Portable SSD drive

power la ah bang!
nice one xtramadness!
Thank you :o:o:o

Maybe SAmsung should start looking into the thumbdrive market, can try to take the crown from Sandisk Extreme.

A little inconvenience for security of data on the samsung portable ssd T1. Some companies need IT admin permission to install software in pc. May cause delay if need to transfer data urgently.

Maybe can add fingerprint scanner to unlock the encryption instead of software password.
The software is not a good solution. Actually they are targeting power users with the Samsung SSD T1

Will Intel's 3D Xpoint technology be launched in portable SSD ?

How much faster compared to the superfast Samsung SSD T1 with TurboWrite ?

that technology is intel partner with micron so you may see it soon in crucial ssd as for portable SSD see whether crucial wanna enter this market? They have mSata ssd too :)

once they up there they getting more pricy now LG is last time samsung
Ya, please get the G4 if you are looking at either the Samsung S6 or LG G4. The G4 is a well-rounded phone. The S6 is also quite good although it has software flaws.

i just read some article today saying confirm no MicroSD slot.

Dont know whether its relibale though. have to wait till annoucement i guess.

Local storage confirm more reliable and faster especially to take 4k video. Writing to external MicroSD card also surely heat up the phone. Data transfer speeds also be affected.

Sigh. If cannot get Samsung SSD Portable T1, at least can get the EVO MicroSD cards. Hope Samsung gives us a chance to use them :o
You sure can get the Samsung EVO cards, don't worry

Yup you can do that for system drives. But for portable drives that is not very feasible.
see the user budget~ now 64gb not that pricy anymore normal usage good enough or get 128gb. if really want higher but budget than no choice normal hard disk still main stream 1TB less than 80
