they really give out vacuum cleaner for buying ssd?? smaller capacity freebies are more appropriate.

Not surprise think perhaps Samsung learn from LG~ LG give out microwave oven for purchase certain of their products while Samsung give out vacuum cleaner for buy their IT products like Samsung Portable SSD T1

freebies practical good at least you dont need resell away and could use for own usage

Don't forget guys, there's a new activity now. Details are in the first post and here's the gist of it:

If a picture really paints a thousand words, can you find the right words from these pictures to link you to the features of the New Samsung SSD T1? Take a hint from the weekly pictures that will be posted and guess what the features of the New Samsung SSD T1 are. Some are pretty apparent, while some might need you to get those brain juices working.

speed.jpg

Keep tabs on the first post and watch this spot for more to updates to come!

Since HWZ post this picture again thus i write again differently (admin dont deduct points due to spam :) )

Racing car => Samsung Portable SSD T1 like ferrari racing car Fast and furious read and write speeds Up to 450MB/sec.

No Speed Limit sign => it refer to the the ssd write/read speed can match the usb 3.0 speed which Samsung Portable SSD T1 is using

Torque Magazine => we all know Torque Magazine is one of the magazine that SPH publish and the picture on the frontpage show a mini car which refer to the size of the Samsung Portable SSD T1 (2.8"(W) x 0.36"(H) x 2.09"(D) )

Gear Fit => it could refer as high tech product from Samsung like Samsung Portable SSD T1 and also can mean small lightweight of T1 which is weight less than 30gm

Blank notebook with pen => it could refer to Samsung Portable SSD T1 plenty of avaliable size to write 250GB,500Gb,1TB which which use 3D V-NAND stack up for more storage

HWZ could add in one Samsung digital door lock to represent AES 256 bit Encryption for Cutting Edge Data Security for Samsung T1 SSD

It's able to withstand TB of data written daily so don't think there's any issue bits essential an SSD ma. Same thing like the com. Just external.

from what i read online, seem like SSDs generally dont run hot, let alone warm

i think samsung include this feature more of a "just in case" situation.

i dont think transferring data a fast speed will cause it to heat up

That is useful information.

Speed
Up to 48MB/s transfer speed with UHS-I interface * Actual speed may vary depending on use host device conditions and environment. * Write speed is slower than transfer speed

http://www.samsung.com/sg/consumer/memory-storage/memory-cards/micro-sd/MB-MP32DA/APC

I using Samsung Evo 64gb microsd on mine LG G4, the speed it provided more than enough for smartphones no issue dont need super high speed like Samsung Portable SSD T1 Up to 450MB/sec :)

usually ssd wont run until become hot unless got malfunction or in Samsung Portable SSD T1 case maybe one component faulty cause heat issue

Quote for others to read.
Highest reward point is now 473 and five person redeem already.

Is the reward quantity official?

473 point is the max points without the bonus points.

those redeemed ones are the lower tiers EVO MicroSD cards i guess.

I think my chance at the Samsung Portable SSD T1 almost NIL :s22:

yes, possibly also due to external factor like environment

since its portable, if use under the hot sun surely it will heat up also.

speed will be throttle to try to minimise any more heat

if you use encryption and password protection you need install their software in order to access Samsung T1 SSD.
In office situation it is better to use non password protected as usually staff have no admin access to computer to install the software

it is not really hassle-free for mac
http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/95616392-post1701.html

isn't the software already pre-installed in the drive?

one of the cons of this ssd drive is the password. if the user forget or lose it then its quite troublesome to have to bring it to service centre. they should have something for us to unlock it ourselves.

tbh, i have never heard of hdd or ssd failing due to heat lol

even if it does, i bet by the time the heat killed the drive, you would have moved on to other better capacity and much faster drives

A thought came to mind. What if we buy a external hard disk case and put the 850 pro in it. Will it be cheaper and the performance remain the same? Since essential it should be the same thing except the case design.

you probably can, except that Samsung 850 PRO is much bigger than the Samsung portable SSD T1

its been tested that this ssd t1 drive will heat up to 75 degrees celsius when reading files or higher if its with encryption.

Maybe if you put the Samsung 850 Pro in it, I think won't be as fast as the T1 Portable SSD? Unless you get a good enclosure. Or the size might not even fit.

some IT consumer products are designed to be used outdoors but yeah ssd drives are to be used indoors. if there is a rugged rubber case to protect it, it can be used outdoors.
