Wouldnt be so fast. Unless some other company come out with something similiar. And T1 is new.

There are competitors with external ssd storage drive, but none can come close to the super fast performance, size, premium design of the samsung portable ssd t1.

If Samsung T1 SSD was eSATA, then wouldn't it be a boost over USB3.0? Since they provide almost similar max transfer bandwidth, but eSATA cables click into place and are more resistant to accidental knocks.

eSATA can provide power to the samsung portable ssd like usb cable?

The main selling point of T1 portable SSD is the insane speed, thus the insane pricing too.

I am quite sure in the near future, we will see more of such portable drives in the market

feeling excited as i always follow hard disk news hahah

Is it worth paying so much for fast speed?

real life picture of the samsung T1 portable SSD

I am quite surprised the supplied cable is actually flat! totally changed my view of flat cable, because i have used serveral flat cables to charge mobile devices and the results are usually not good.

can you imagine if its a full sized usb3.0 cable, will it increase the transfer speed? haha

Is there differences in term of transfer speed performance between flat and normal cable?

Of course samsung portable drive i can get point fast enough. However have problem getting additional points after the initial first post.:( Seem like only can get point at certain timing.

Then you have to come in everyday at unearthly hours to post. Isn't it tiring?

It seems the Samsung SSD T1 is not suitable for 24/7 usage.
But I thought the Dynamic Thermal Guard feature will prevent the T1 from getting too hot and thus prevent such problems.

when the drive gets too hot, the speed will become slower. when the speed become slower then less heat will be produced.

That user usage is too extreme? Using portable ssd to run server, not sure if normal internal ssd handle the load without overheat.

true for c brands who can promise lifetime warranty but close down after a few years but top brands like samsung, kingston etc have their reputation to protect and will need to factor in the lifetime warranty as part of their costs.

What C brands?
Apart from big brands like Samsung, Kingston the others can't promise lifetime warranty. At most few years.

Well SSD pricing are falling, hope that they can make the T1 price point about the same price as desktop SSDs, need not be the same, slightly higher by $30 would be a good sign.

So that more people will start to appreciate the need of an portable SSD.

Prices don't fall so much unless got new models coming out.
