Strange thing is, the most eh kan sinkees (like Kwek Eik Sheng, Wee Cho Yaw, to name a few) have often have no intention to relocate. :s13:

cos i think got a rule saying you have to be in singapore for at least 30 days for the last 4 or 1 year. you can always lie since they do not check :o

earn double and cars/houses/groceries at half price of SG?

but there's 35% taxation and restaurant meals cost a bomb!!! how could any sane sinkie be content and choose such an environment over a utopia with just 5% taxation and cheap cooked food?!!!

Quitting was the hardest decision to make back then. Selling everything I owned and leaving friends, family and familiar surroundings behind wasnt easy. Turning down a great job offer and venturing into the unknown was pretty damn scary.

But come to think of it, there is no one decision that I have enjoyed more. Quality of life, cost of living, and job opportunities are but the few plus points in the article.

I like that I can pop out of the city on the weekends. I like that I have four seasons. I like my job and the people I meet as part of it. I love netflix and amazon prime!

FWIW, I think after serving NS and all, I have paid my dues for growing up in Singapore. No guilt or shame in quitting.
