election on friday does not mean holiday.

i still remember when i is nsf.
pc give me only 2hr timeoff to go vote.

POLLING DAY
11 The Returning Officer will declare 11 September 2015 (Friday) to be Polling Day. Under the law, Polling Day at any general election shall be a public holiday. Every employer shall on Polling Day allow every elector in his employ a reasonable period of time for voting.

by-election on other hand... don't have to be pub holiday...

100% public holiday on 11 Sept. Unless you're doing shift work or your work involves other regions, otherwise you should not be working.

You all know why Polling day is 11th and not 12th of Sept?

Because 12th is last day of Hungry Ghost Month and the gates of hell will close......Ah Gongs's ghost cannot bless the PAP liao! :s13::s12:

Well 9/11 changed everything globally.

So I would not really want to piss on a day of terror for everybody to remember.

It seems whoever set the date forgot about this...
