Liquid ones are much lower potency than softgels. For example, NOW Ultra Omega is 750mg total EPA/DHA per 1000mg softgel, or 75%. Good luck finding a liquid one that's anywhere near that.

I agree liquid Omega 3 is no where near the concentration of a capsule but they cater to a different needs. I can vouch that liquid fish oil taste far better than Scott's Emulsion Cod Liver Oil!

Liquid Fish oil, eg Nature's Answer, can cost a mere fraction of a highly purified Omega 3, eg Now Ultra. I have always advocated for higher concentration Omega 3 but the liquid fish oil labels declared AOCS & US Drug Formulary Test Methods) for potency and purity at independent WHO & FDA Registered Laboratories.

Check out the price value comparison tables in this excel file: GET319.xls to get an idea which liquid fish oil you could consider.

Read some reviews & apparently now is different.

Still recommended or better to order other brands? Any recommendation? Looking more towards brain function.

Many are taking NOW Omega 3. I'm taking NOW Ultra Omega 3. They're big, but I don't have a problem. I usually pop a 2 of them plus a few more other pills per mouth no problem. If you have trouble swallowing Panadols, then you might have an issue with them though.

I am taking the Now Omega 3 too.

I did my own due diligence on the company, i.e. its manufacturer which is pretty or very important.

Quite easy to swallow as compared to some other brand of supplements.

Both Normal & ultra have low DHA.

Hi All,

I usually take Blackmore Fish Oil 1000. I believe (like what Genesisz said previously) when taking supplements, the company that manufactures it is very important.

However, Blackmore Fish Oil is very expensive at those big pharmacies, actually all supplements seem very expensive in Singapore.

As such I prefer to buy a lot back every time I go to Australia, or get a friend to send them over to me when I'm not going by. My stash of fish oil is finishing so I will need to reorder soon. So for those who are don't go to Australia often, but would still like to buy Blackmore Fish oil at a much cheaper price than in those pharmacies, PM me and I'll try to fit a few extra bottles into my order:)

Hurry, first come first serve!!

Still safe to eat? Is it normal

Does it smell funny, and do you see any oily residue in the bottle or on the softgels?

In any case, you should keep these refrigerated and avoid keeping them for too long. Omega 3 are PUFAs which are prone to spoilage when exposed to heat/light.

it doesnt smell funny, no oil residue...
but i notice some lose its elasticity, become harder than normal, i think if i bite it it might break...

didnt know that i need to store this in the fridge :o

Anyway long time ago i bought from guardian (blackmores) and store it for quite long (1 year plus), but it didnt stick with each other, so was i unlucky or this is normal?

I haven't stored any fish oil for over a year so I dunno. However, after 1 year the quality will degrade significantly. I would not store it for so long.

Jarrow is pretty good because its higher potency (600mg per caps) compared to the regular off the shelf Omega 3 (300mg per caps). It has lower DHA/EPA ratio which is beneficial for active youths, busy adults & heart patients.

However if you want higher DHA/EPA ratios which benefits growing kids, expectant mums, old folks, dementia, then check out price-comparison tables in this excel file: GET319.xls , for a selection of DHA Omega 3.

Look out for the highest ratio of 10:1 DHA:EPA in the file which is not expensive compared to some popular brands.

Hope this helps.

You should keep it in the fridge the moment the bottle is opened. Otherwise it is good enough to store in in a cool, dark place like yr cabinet.

The capsules will be less sticky when you keep it in the fridge. Since expiry is 2017, then keeping more than 1 yr is no problem.

You should consume yr fish oil capsules regularly to enjoy the benefit. Take 2 capsx600mg Omega3 (or 3 capsx300mg) in the morning is good enough for a start.

Both Normal & ultra have low DHA.

DHA cost more than EPA, so higher DHA Omega 3 is usually pricier and not often seen on shelfs in SG.

However, the good news is Now, Jarrow & Source Naturals have slashed their prices for Omega 3 across the board, so it makes it far worthwhile to get these from iHerb. Check out the latest price updates in price-comparison tables in this excel file: GET319.xls
