Sorry for creating a thread just for this.

I've been using a set of Creative Inspire T6100 since 2009, which still sounds pretty damn good today, except the volume control is effed. The volume is uncontrollable and unreliable now, and because it's a discontinued model, there aren't any replacements for the volume control.

And so, I need new speakers. I've a pretty low budget of $50-$100 tho. I game (battlefield and dota mainly) and listen to music (from jazz to edm to metal) a lot, so i'm quite a audio *****.

Could any of you recommend me:
1) 2.1 speakers between $50-100
2) A good place to look for and test out speakers (apart from challenger)
3) If the jump in quality would warrant me increasing my budget

Thanks!!!

1) If u r really serious about music, u shldnt be looking at cheap speakers. Cheap speakers produce cheap audio, no matter how good the brand is. I've tested and proven this (thinking of cheap 5.1 systems? I have a set of Edifier M1550 lying in the storeroom :D).

2) if u really tight on budget, u can go hunting in the upcoming COMEX and see if any speakers in the Creative booth grab ur interest.

3) if u r more into gaming, u shld be using a paor of headphones instead. Cheap speakers (even when paired with expensive soundcards) give average to bad directional sounds during gaming. The Swans M10 is really the average speaker u shld get to fulfill ur requirements, any better u need to up ur budget.

Supporting the M10 too! (Got them last month) lol; better than the below $100 speakers (not that they are really bad, it's just that if you are willing to spend just a bit more for a lot more performance...). Only caveat is that the subwoofer needs to be placed on the same level as the other two speakers (i.e. not under your table that kind) for best effect.

If you want to test them (after all, this kind of audio stuff is better to test them out too), can go Cybermind in SLS. A lot of choices to pick from and test on the spot. Bring a music source with a 3.5mm jack; that's what most of these choices are using.

I think one of the members here got a thread selling these speakers too and can even arrange a courier to send it straight to your house (for a fee of course). Way better than having to lug them back from the shop to your home; they really heavy you know? :D

Logitech z623 is good, over the years it's price came down to $188... a little out of your budget though...

Best go down hear hear, let your ears do the decision. Last time I set to buy corsair sp2500 cos of good reviews and many people say it's good. But after auditing I ended up with Swans m50s

Wah. Lazada dont sell them anymore.

Anyone know where to get lazada speakers for good price and maybe delivery? Now everywhere sell $129 :s22:

1yr ago i remember people hooting for 105-110?!?
Heng I got it in March hahaha

Initially wanted the D1080 but Lazada also never sell liao then I decided to get the M10.

I thought Lazada set cheaper because never include the white glove?

True, but at TS's budget the obvious choice is M10 liao. Dont have many 2.1 at this price point unless you want some Armageddon gear lol. Any higher will be around 200-300.

Sent from microwave oven using GAGT

T40 is a pretty decent choice too around same price. But only if have space constraints. M10 still king in terms of best sounding sub $150 spks IMO.

I went from 5.1 to Creative T40. By themselves, the T40 sound fantastic, but what I missed most when listening to music, was the bass from a sub.

What I did was simply reconnect the sub to my pc to use in conjunction with the T40, only turning the sub on when I wanted more bass for music.

Woah. Thanks a lot for the replies.

Yeah it looks like the Swan m10 is within my budget. I would really really like to invest $200-$300, but I'm saving up to pay off student-debt in a year.

I'll probably head on down to cybermind to have a listen first!

The idea of the sub being on the table sounds pretty weird man, I'll miss the feeling of the bass thumping by my left foot.
