Sorry, other than wiping data and bloat, what does changing the code do or help?

Changing the code will change the firmware in the phone.

Basically, XSP is the "unmodified, original" firmware released my Samsung. Local Telco will modify the firmware and add their Telco-related apps/bloatware. These Telco-modified firmware will end with SIN/MM1/STH, depending on the Telco.

When ever Samsung pushes out new firmware, the XSP will receive it first. Those on SIN/MM1/STH will have to wait until the Telco modify it and push out to the consumers. So, occasionally, you can read on the forums that some people will receive OTA firmware update faster than others while others have to wait for a long time before they receive their OTA firmware update. This is due to the code used in the phone.

anyway to back up every data before changing to csc?

Root yes.

No root? Some of the app data can try using carbon app. Other data like sms call log gotta use apps like sms backup& restore. The phone data just copy it wholesale to your pc.

You can use Samsung's Smart Switch app.

Compatible with Android 4.4 and above, as well as iOS.

They have a mobile and a PC version.

Personally, I have used both mobile and PC versions.
The PC version is able to copy your WhatsApp data to your new phone (and you can also choose what files/folder/data to copy over)

You do not really need any other dedicated apps or programs to transfer data and files from old phone to new phone.

To add on: I copied almost 10GB of data from my Note 3 to Note 5 using the Smart Switch PC version

There's no patch notes for the recent software update.

Wanna start on a clean slate.

If you're talking about the Samsung default keyboard, try tapping and holding the current icon beside the space bar. Then select back the "T" icon?
