wow...i see this thread is still pretty much alive...

Left PwC a few months back and now doing fp&A work at MNC, kinda missing audit work already. Anyone who left Big 4 having withdrawal symptoms? lol.

I do. I left PwC in January 2015 to for Statutory Accountant job and regretted the moment I started my new job as early as March, but recruitment wasn't open. Now I am applying back to audit.

Hi! Is there anyone who applied for tax (Big 4 TURF) but have yet to receive any interview for tax?? I know quite a few friends who got notified for tax interview last week. Wonder if the big 4 is still calling this week??

Hey I received a call from EY yesterday for a tax interview. Mine will be held two weeks later.
Anyone knows how is EY tax interview like? The interview confirmation email states that there will be a 15 mins written assignment and 1h interview.
What is this written assignment about and is the interview 1-to-1 interview? Hope someone can clarify these questions of mine! Thanks!

Leave before mid tier bond ended

Hi

Am helping my friend to ask, anyone break bond from mid tier for better future elsewhere? Any way to waive off the bond's costs?

Fyi, I just interviewed with EY audit this morning. I don't think I did very well, but here are the advice nonetheless.

It was a group interview, 1 partner, 1 manager, 4 interviewees. The partner does not ask by the book and just went with the flow like giving advice, talking about EY, and ask us if we have any question. Expect to have alot of question to ask, since they ask a total of like 2-3 questions only.

Which position did u applied for? I got a few calls from them asking me for my current experience in mid tier firm last week, they mentioned will call me back to arrange for interview if shortlisted. It's been 3 working days, meaning chance quite dim?

I applied for audit, through the TURF website. They only sent me a confirmation email a few days after the phone call. But my call was already to arrange an interview, so im not sure about your situation.

For experienced hire, the process may be different cos you don't enter as A1 - right now they are also flooded with all the TURF interviews for the next couple weeks

Kinda sucks that HR doesn't let you know whether they are still considering you though :/

Hi I heard a friend's friend who managed to negotiate the bond compensation by arguing to the partner how she was mistreated by the manager resulting in depression, etc.

Hi everyone,

I'm in my 3rd year in SMU, and I was just wondering how difficult/easy it is for an accounting grad to get into the Big4. I don't have fantastic grades, so I was wondering if Big 4 has minimum GPA requirement to get in? I'm interested in tax.

I did not apply for the Big4 internships this time as I will be going on exchange, and I will not be able to make it back in time for the internships. Does anyone know how competitive the year end intake (winter) for Big4 tax is?
Also, as I will only be back in June, will there be internship opportunities available at other firms that do not have fixed dates for internships?

My ultimate aim is to get into Big4 tax after graduation, therefore will interning at somewhere else other than the Big4 still help me in terms of my application, or will the Big4 prioritise their previous interns? I am considering delaying my graduation by 1 semester so that I will have another chance to complete a summer internship at the Big4 before I graduate (assuming I don't get accepted for the winter intake later this year). Is this advisable, or should I just apply for a full-time position once I graduate even without Big4 intern experience?

Thank you.

AFAIK winter the big 4 are looking more for audit than tax, tax peak hits before December so there isn't much work to do, hence, less openings.

Iirc 1st year A1 pay is 2,850 including CPF, 300(?) more for KPMG with magna cum laude/1st class honours

thanks for your reply, also wanted to know if Big 4 only hires penultimate students for their internships? Will they accept students in their final year? I will be in my final year by the time the winter internship period comes around.

hello junior, i'm smu acct final year lol. last winter when I was interning at one of the big 4, there were some final year interns as well. BUT winter period demand for tax is quite low so may be quite competitive... u can try emailing HR for an internship in summer that's not at the "standard period" due to you coming back late from exchange. some of my friends did that, all the best~

They don't really care about whether you are in your final year or not, in fact, it's even better for them since you'd have completed your core modules and can be 'cheap labour' - one of my friends had to do an internal audit internship at Deloitte after he graduated due to that department's policy of only hiring past interns.
