Hey all, I just got aa pair of SD2s. At first didn't really like the bass response, but I'm getting used to it (and don't really know what to change to cos I am too used to SD2's soundstage).

Anw, I'm thinking of what DAP/DAC I should consider to get to pair with SD2s eventually. I currently play music from my s6 (with Spotify and flac via Poweramp) and I have a e11 laying around, though I rarely use both together. Would a DAP really change the sound from a S6 that significantly?

I'm currently thinking of a budget friendly X3 (or x1?) but I'm reading that people here talk about dx90 a lot... Dx50 seems to be in the same price range as x3 ii as well. So would you guys recommend get X3/dx50 is good enough or should I just wait a bit and get the dx90 (or even x5 ii) instead?

Thanks!

Personally I don't have the habit of using smartphones as my dedicated on-the-go DAP, because I find it quite cumblesome for main usage since I will always be msging with my peers/working colleagues and when you receive a phone call out of nowhere sometimes, you still have to unplug your pair of IEMs before being able to receive phone calls, since most TOTL universal in-ear monitors/customs monitors don't have in-line controls avail.

If you do not mind continuing using your Galaxy S6 smartphone as yr main DAP awhile adding another lightweight stack, you may wanna look for a USB-OTG compatible portable DAC solution to complement your current audio needs. Fiio's does have a wide range of those products, just go visit E1PersonalAudio or Treoo audio stores here they are bound to have something suitable for you.

If you are able to increase yr budget alittle by approx. 50% more up to 400+ dollars, I'd suggest that you give the Oppo HA-2 a serious look as it has not only gotten pretty rave reviews already on the Head-fi community, but was also recently reviewed by ClieOS aka Tai a respectable Malaysian head-fier who has been writing audio reviews for years.

I do not own the Oppo HA-2 myself, but based on my brief demo session with my own library and initial impressions, it is quite a respectable portable DAC/Amp product that is USB-OTG compatible with not only Android devices, buut also the rest of the iOS Apple devices out there. So you can use it not only for yr smartphone, but on Apple tablets as well if you do have around. Build quality is pretty top-notch to my personal expectations, and the SQ is pretty good to my ears as well with my own IEM rigs.

Just some ideas for you.
