Mibox is not so good and has limited free channels. Many channels still need to pay extra subscription to watch. I got Chromecast from M1. Netflix will be coming to sg very soon. I consider getting Netflix.

I just went down to M1 shop to sign for fibre broadband. It is MUCH BETTER to sign up at shop rather than online.

-No $58+ ONT installation charge (waiver)
-No $37+ charge for sim card (for Mobile broadband)
-$48+ activation fee apply
-I can choose not to get 12 months MiBox and those free antivirus for 3 months thingy

And i can collect my Asus AC68U straight away.

I tried signing up for their $29 200Mbps new subscriber fibre broadband. The online system seems to charge me..

-$58+ for ONT activation (weekdays before 5pm)
-forcing me to cboose a $37+ sim card for mobile broadband (i cannot opt out of this?)
-No mention about the $40+ service activation fee which i expect

Is it better to just drop by M1 shop to sign up?

Congrats when your installation.

3 weeks time. I requested later date as my BTO still renovating.

Current house is using MyRepublic 200Mbps with Asus N56U router. So while waiting, i just swap out the Asus N56U with the AC68U. Super power. Better range and dead spots covered. DL and UP speed is faster.

I would recommend pple who are taking 200Mbps plans to take up Asus Ac68U and not the slow and laggy N56U.

I'm previously a M1 customer also. Their fibre broadband plans are value for money and their customer service is ok. At least they answer the phone. :D

Cong, welcome on broad M1. The great thing about it is $29/mth. Enjoy.

I bought the cat 6 from challenger ah.
Any gd cable shop to buy from. Where u buy your cables from bro kenchi :D
I just read this, there should not be anything wrong with your cable (just try to avoid those flat cat 6 cable as they may not give full gigabit speed).

Homeplug actual speed will nvr reach the rated speed written on the box (typical actual speed more like ~ one quarter or one fifth rated speed). Read smallnetbuilder article on powerline adapter for your reference.

E.g. I'm on M1 gigabit plan, able to get >900 Mbps on cat 6 cable. However on my Aztech 500 Mbps powerplug, speedtest nvr exceed 100 Mbps.

I will change the flat cable than. Perhaps get Belden Cat 6 cable try out

No no u don't get me, bottleneck is likely to be homeplug. Read my post again carefully. Connect to gigabit router directly with ur flat cat 6 and test again, you will see the big diff is caused by homeplug limitation.

BTW I'm referring to 50mbps u get when connected via Aztech 200mbps.

You did not get my points correctly. My Windows 10 pc should be ok, for my other router 56U works well with it, register 1Gbps for all the 4 ports.

I have 2 outstanding issues:
1. AC56S not compatible with Windows10? That it can only register 100Mbps for all the 4 ports?

2. My low 300 dl speed is most probably due to modem, for even direct cable to modem, it won't hit 500. M1 will check on this on Monday.

Any update from M1 about the issue?

I was told to call back after 48h, to have time for the ONT to complete provision, and for more accurate speed readings ...

They had replaced my black ont with a white huawei ont. The white huawei ont generate as much heat as the black one.

The speed result so far was pretty bad, worse than before the ont replacement.

Here's the result:

I will probably have to call M1 again.

It will never take so long to re-provision your line. Better call 1627 and request that they do the re-provisioning for your 1Gbps plan immediately or as soon as possible. It is quite easy to re-provision from their backend.
