Roy using MSI X99 SLI Krait..

Its a good board, but there are boards out there with better value.
Pefer to have USB3.1 & M.2, of cos if got gd onboard sound will be better.

any recommendation.

Initially, I was considering Giga z170 gaming 7.

But 8 core has a lower base clock even if it has more cores. If u can utilise all cores, then 8 cores cpu is good for u.

Otherwise, just stick to 6 cores for X99 or just 4 cores from haswell.

Honestly I am hard pressed to hear a difference between ALC892/898/1150 to a Recon3D.
If anything the Recon3Ds are actually worse for headphones and that if you want good audio, skip the 7.1 BS and buy a AK4490 DAC with XMOS for USB support.
And a SMSL sApII headphone amp for headphone usage.
What's MORE important for audio is actually your speaker amp if you're using speakers.
The ALC892 is hardly a limit for many logitechs. Logitech is actually down there with Sonic gear in terms of SQ at the low end.

You want a good speaker? Buy Swans.

If you want a decent board just buy any MSI board or Gigabyte X99. That'd do.

Tiagong Roy is hardcore MSI supporter?

Sent from my mobile phone using GAGT

You could review products from a certain company but you could hate the company to death.
I don't really like MSI as even a part, waste my time one.
But the X99S is simple, all black has many usb 3.0 ports.
But the fan headers are like ... mostly actually voltage controlled -_-

Oh, fan headers, yes, i agree on the X99 board and older other MSI Boards.

BUT however after having it for a few days of the Z170 and some B150 boards, they finally revised their fan headers. Like finally!

Now you can even set it to spin at 0rpm lol. And be it CPU fan header, SYSFan header, it is now FULL PWM control.

Last time is unable to set anything below 20% fan rpm for SYSFan header, minimum is 40% iirc?. And unable to set 0rpm.

Just to set the understanding ground,

I do not tiong xim a particular branding. I use all kinds of brands of products, and i love all of them in what they can do.

I do love to do personal reviews on products, and Corbell and MSI have managed to give me the support for now.

Its a stepping stone, and i do appreciate if other brands and distro will support me in the near future. So far im opening my doors for Sapphire.

Any way just for the record i own a lot of products before, such as.

Mobo

Asus M5A99X Evo 2.0
Gigabyte H77N Wifi
ASRock H81M HDS
MSI Z87 G45 Gaming
MSI Z97 MPower Max AC
MSI X99S SLI Plus

Among all i do love each and every boards capabilities and each of them have a fair share of issues i had with them.

There is no perfect boards i would say. There is definitely a few downsides.

I love gadgets, electronics, and PC. As much as i can they revolves around me. And i dont put a strong branding recommendations for things that i like. Im not those die hard fans.

Look at my rig and you will know that i do not side a brand. Just a personal preference that i would prefer MSI as my choice of mobo as it offers simplicity, no intimidating stuffs, and just good strong support that i received from them when there is a problem arise.

Why leh? I've been mod for other forums before, often it means you have less time to participate due to the time spent on moderation/saikang/admin stuff. For roy it might mean less time to do reviews, which can be quite time consuming already.
