i think we should make petition to made Roy as HWZ Mod....:s22::s22:

Why leh? I've been mod for other forums before, often it means you have less time to participate due to the time spent on moderation/saikang/admin stuff. For roy it might mean less time to do reviews, which can be quite time consuming already.

Becoming a mod was my long ago dream. Besides till today i do not know how to begin and how to become one lol. I didnt bother to find out.

But regardless, i do as always continue to be in HWC even if i become mod, I will still do what i love doing most, personal reviews. :)

Dear all,

As above. Considering getting it with 5820K.
Corsair Vengeance 2400Mhz 4GB x 4 ok?

Link
https://www.asus.com/sg/Motherboards/SABERTOOTH_X99/

Thanks in advance

Lets move on as per topic to TS.

For X99 you are fine to use any DDR4 rams that runs from 2133mhz all the way to 2666mhz.

Anything more than 2666mhz lets say 3000mhz, it will start to adjust your BCLK. Meaning to say the CPU itself will do a small overclocking.

If you don't mind other brands, you can try Gskills, Crucial etc.

I read somewhere, shld use 4 channels for x99 instead of 2. Not sure if correct.

Not much of a difference. There is gains of putting it in 4 channels, but you wont see the differences in real life.

Oic. I tot it is a must to use 4 channels for x99. Then I getting 8GB x 2.

That is fine for you, but it will look a bit off balance. :s13:

Such as one sided filled with rams, while the other side all 4 slots empty. lol

TS if u really want a good audio, den getting a dedicated sound or even a external DAC will be better. But first before u jump on that, pls make sure u have a set of decent speakers. If not all this soundcard will be pretty much useless.

I would just stick with 4x 4GB if it doesnt cost much more for the aethestic balance
True, will look better if both sides balanced up.

Oh, fan headers, yes, i agree on the X99 board and older other MSI Boards.

BUT however after having it for a few days of the Z170 and some B150 boards, they finally revised their fan headers. Like finally!

Now you can even set it to spin at 0rpm lol. And be it CPU fan header, SYSFan header, it is now FULL PWM control.

Last time is unable to set anything below 20% fan rpm for SYSFan header, minimum is 40% iirc?. And unable to set 0rpm.

Yea. Like ASUS previously before Z97

And also EIST will be disabled if BCLK strap is increased.

My personal opinion (Some songs I have both mp3 320k and flac) is that flac doesn't make much of a difference on my AK4490 DAC with the SMSL sApII and the Superlux HD660.

My speakers (which has a TPA3116D2 on the AK4490 DAC w/ OPA1652 as input) don't show a difference either. And my speakers sounds as good as speakers many times it's price :D

Why buy X99 and use dual channel?

That is fine for you, but it will look a bit off balance. :s13:

Why buy X99 and have one side without ram ;)

Lga2011 no need backplate. It is just a screw on. You got to check if the h60 has the necessary screws for 2011.
