This thread is full of crap flung at unwitting doctors. You do know that they are human, too, right? Unless there's a definitive diagnosis for all conditions, misjudgements will be made. Which is why people seek 2nd and 3rd opinions. What one doctor says isn't the end all and be all of medical treatment.

The thing is most people hold medical officers in high regard because they are supoosedly much more well educated and it takes some time before they actually practice, so some experience is earned too.

And like someone said, probably people are subjected to unnecessary tests or further suffering due to misdiagnoses or boh chup attitudes of some doctors who simply want to earn money but do not really care about their patients.

Doesn't help that medical costs in Singapore is not cheap.

My friend ever went to a gp with fever and spots on skin. Doctor diagnosed as common flu until she bth went to hospital.
They tool a blood test and she was diagnosed with dengue fever, hospitalised straightaway.
Can't be helped for gp when bulk of their patients probably go to them because of Chao geng

I went to 3 GPs about my scaly red cheeks which was burning and itching and peeling and all 3 told me I just have adult acne.

Went to a dermatologist after the 3rd GP- who diagnosed me with eczema. Gave me creams n pills and the problem was gone in 2 days.

my case was similar to your friend's. only prb was that time i had skin allergy after applying something on my neck and got high fever somemore...and this jia li hai gp asap told me oh u got dengue and i said NOPE i knew my rashes was caused by something else. blah blah blah. By the end of the day, he warned me this and that and made me worried for the next 2 days esp when my fever comes and go. So on the 3rd day, i went to another family doc and he asap told me, it is not dengue orelse u will nt be able to make your way here lol its just a viral fever hahaha

Parents brought me to Singapore national eye centre. Turns out I had chronic conjunctivitis, blepharitis and corneal scarring, not myopia. Now my vision L 6/6 R 6/4. Heng never listen to school nurse.
