cos hor I see ppl talk about pci... then curious whats that mah... I super noob one... but thanks for all you enlightenment... so far any one do speed test of dir-890 with dwa-192?

cos if really good right, then maybe I will wait till sitex? bahahahaha
if you mean speed test of the DWA-192 with the DIR-890L, i've tested it already.. comparing with my old Asus RT-AC68, the results are certainly faster and more stable.

With my Asus RT-AC68, this is the results on my 200Mbps Fibre

With the DLink DIR-890L, from the same PC and same location, I'm getting these figures.

I didnt share much on a DIR-890L here cos I saw a number of threads on it .. but I've actually some simple review on it as well, you can see them in my reviews (unboxing and Setup) in my blog.

This usb adapter certainly looks like an interesting product.

But there is another option that should be considered too.

For around the same price as the dwa-192 (say, $99), it shouldn't be difficult to find a good condition, 2nd-hand AC1750 or AC1900 router which can function as a media bridge. For eg, a used DLink 865L (AC1750) is selling for as low as $50 and the higher-end 868L can be found for less than $100 used. In fact, i bought my 868L sealed and BNIB for only $85

The advantages of using a media bridge are that:

- you effectively have 4 triple-stream adapters-in-1 because you will be able to connect up to 4 different devices

- you can connect devices that do not have usb or pci-slots but have an ethernet port for eg TVs, blu-ray players, AVamps, Playstation etc

- you can also use it as a router, access point or wireless extender

- i suspect that performance will be better because of the higher quality electronics (incl antennas) that can fit in a larger enclosure and the higher power supply but this is subject to testing

The disadvantages are that:

- you need a separate power supply

- it is larger and also not portable so would not be suitable for use on-the-go or with laptops

So, the DWA-192 might be suitable for some but for others (for eg those that intend to use the client at home only), a media bridge might be a better choice

Road show till when?

Challenger got some storage/network roadshow at Funan from 15-18 Oct. This Death Star thingy is under their hourly specials @ $59. They state 3 units per day. Dunno how true. Can try your luck.

Try to reduce the security settings on windows.. or do u have any security suite installed?

BTW, shouldn't u download the latest version from the dlink support website instead of using the outdated CD?
