lol....i think the PO start next week monday? will we have the extra $50 google music voucher? or any extended warranty for this phone? or the PO also gave clear case or maybe SP? :s12:

I thought Huawei already mentioned their pre order price, 50sgd off the retail price. 50 dollars off better than the Google voucher

It's cool. I just want to point out that most modern chargers will not allow phones to "overcharge" if it's not faulty. Most modern chargers will trickle charge around 90-95% of your battery so it doesn't wear it out.

Keeping it plugged in for a reasonable amount of time should not wear out the battery in a significant way.

By the time the battery spoil, the phone might have been in the rubbish bin. :D :D

Just a bit more on the phone. So far the weight balance on the phone is quite good, I had this fear that the phone might be top heavy due to the slight protrusion of the camera part, but it was unfounded.

Another nice thing is the phone doesn't "slide" when I put it on a stack of papers, which was a real issue with my slippery Nexus 6. :s13:

Actually, it's not $50 google music voucher. It's $50 Google play credit and 90 days free Google play music subscription.

I've replaced battery for G2 for quite cheap in SLS, time taken 20 minutes. It has been non-issue for me. Battery can be original (more expensive) or reputable replacement (slightly cheaper). Prices are .... uhhh .... cheaper than buying original OEM removable battery.

For god's sake charging overnight is OK. Each phone has a charging profile which gives a charging curve, when it is at 100% the charge change to trickle mode (very small charge for maintenance). The charging profile controls a chip they call a charging controller, which communicates using data line (for USB C) with the charge controller on the charger. It is by design not intended to overcharge. If you use a custom ROM then you better know what you're doing because the charge curves may have changed for faster but unsafe charging. If you use a 3rd party charger you better be confident that they have a properly profiled charge controller onboard. If all is proper then you shouldn't worry. You can even monitor your charge amp using a simple app like Ampere, you'll see the charging current go down after 85% and almost zeroed out at 100%.

Of course, all batteries will eventually wear out. Again, as I mentioned, I am not trying to imply that leaving it charging overnight will kill the battery. However, I am pretty sure, it will damage (wear/tear/etc) faster than it should. The point that I was trying to imply was, if one wants to manage the battery life (wear/tear/etc) better, keeping it plugged in after charged is not encouraged.

I tend to agree with this after my experience with one of my old phones, i was one of those who always like to keep my phones charged at 100% the whole day in office then i realised that over time (less than 1 year), the batt was unable to last as long as before. I then read articles about prolonging your batt lifespan and one of it is keep it cool and the other part is to minimise stress to the batt by using a smaller current and not charging to full all the time.

Battery charging always stresses the internals of the batt, esp at the tail end when the batt is almost full. This is made worse with the high amp chargers we have nowadays so to miminise stress, it would be good for the batt if you :
1) Charge slower via USB or 1A chargers. This also has the extra benefit of generating less heat.
2) Charge to 80% or 90% max

My current laptop also has an "extended battery life cycle" setting where it charges to 80% and keeps it there and it’s meant for people who leave their laptop connected via AC adaptor the whole day , so I think there's definitely truth in not charging to full all the time.

Anyway this advice is for people who have built in batts and use their phones for a long time. For those who change phones yearly, it shouldn’t affect u too much.

What I learned from phone repair bros - unless you got a fruit phone (require laser alignment for case reassembly for perfection) all other phones they repair, open case, remove and replace batt, close case, is all done 5-7 minutes. I myself see them do it.

Don't restrain yourself from using your dear phone by trying to baby the battery. If battery louya, just change it using one of the shops in SLS, if you need any recommendation, I do it at Apps electronics in SLS many times already, the price is quite cheap, comparable to the cost of buying a battery off the shelf.

I understand, last time I had HTC One, I suffered for months with a louya battery spoilt by big heat caused by me putting my phone on car mount in the sun. How stupid I was. Now I just go SLS repair shop and change batt all happy happy.

Maybe later when I'm at home. I want to see how much battery life I will end up with at the end of the day.

I tried. You do know that every modern phone has throttle even Exynos. The Antutu range from 75K if you put that baby mount near air con vent in car, to 43K doing it in the hot sun. No need to run 10X. Run 3X is more than enough, and then the Antutu up and down. The phone doesn't ever feel uncomfortably hot unless you got weak WIFI - means that CPU don't make it feel hot, 4G modem and wifi chip make it hot.

Makes me think that modern big chip phones probably do best in all metal unibody enclosure like the Nexus 6P. Seems to get rid of heat issue quite readily.
