I just got an email from Citibank. Seems like the minimum spending for the card is going to be $888 monthly. Is this true? If yes, then what card should I use if I wan to continue with Shell?

Then no choice to keep the card, unless there is a better card promotion with Shell. I dun think I will reach 888 per month cos I dun spend that much monthly.

HSBC has a better straight up discount than Citibank.

Try to look at the countertop of the Shell cashier next time you are there, all the various credit card discounts are listed out. At least it is for the couple of Shell stations that I frequent.

$888 is divided into different categories to qualify for the 8% rebate

Even if u hoot $1000 on groceries, u still don't meet the criteria for 8% rebate

yes you do, you just don't get $80 in rebates, as it's capped at $25 per category. $888 min spending to get 8% rebate is from any kind of retail spending.

Those signboards don't tell u the terms n conditions

HSBC got some special terms n conditions too

I think must spend minimum $500 for 3 consecutive months. Dunno if the 3 consecutive months got to be within the same quarter or not.

no conditions for the straight up discount. the cash rebates conditions are clearly described in the link I've pasted, which I guess you didn't click.

I was referring to the conditions for the rebates.

It's minimum $400 per month for 3 months within a quarter to get 3%

Minimum $800 per month for 3 months within a quarter to get 5% or 6%, depending on which HSBC cards
