Hi all

https://www.asus.com/sg/Notebooks/K450JF/specifications/

Thats my current model, can i add a ssd or replace the hdd with a ssd? What will happen to the current windows OS?
Any advise where to do it and the service fee too? Planning to change it if possible within next 2 months, 60gb or 128gb is enough as its just for work usage, any models to recommend?

Thanks!! :s12::s12:

yours should be using sata port since the default is hdd
you can find normal ssd to replace it
i will recommend looking for a 240-256gb ssd during online sale or use some code because it is around $20-$30 more at most compared to 120gb

some ssd brands like crucial/intel provides cloning software(not sure if they still do)for you to bring over programs you want to mirror

all laptops use standard 2.5 inch HDD/SSD. Even my 7 year old laptop uses a 2.5 inch HDD at stock. It's a matter of thickness of drive it can accommodate. Don't bother with shop. Went to PC dreams and wanted to charge me 80 bucks, dumb me forgot to enquire about arrangements when i bought my laptop from them @ march IT show. Asked them for advice on how to clone and they reco macrium reflect. Sometimes cloning software they provide out of box is useless, an example would be my experience when cloning from HDD of my laptop to a samsung evo 850. The disc that came with it was totally useless. The software i dl from the disc couldn't even detect my SSD

I am using the same laptop model. I use 240gb Intel ssd to replace then also took out optical drive bay, and insert a hdd in a caddy. The problem I faced was how to remove the back cover. Other than that I hate win8.1. So I installed windows 7. Then recent month, I upgraded to win10.

Hi all,
appreciate the replies but i wont be replacing a ssd alr cause the battery life cant even go beyond 2.5hrs unplugged, dont wanna spend extra costs on it. Gonna put this aside or for trade-in next time.
For cloning software, googled a few but have no chance to use it anyway, hopefully have better ones in the future.

Try PC Clinic. They charge $30 only for the service.

Best is you update your OS to the latest Win 10. Best for compatibility with the SSD and your laptop. Once cloned, everything is ported over. Once you boot up, the laptop will run like normal except that everything runs at 10x the speed compared to your previous experience lor...
