China selling the 32G version of Redmi Note 2 at 999RMB.

That is about S$229 which is what Xiaomi SG is selling the 16GB at.

Xiaomi this time mark up a lot also for the 16GB version.

I still think it is louzy. This is way MTK only appeared in low end and cheap handphone/tablet.

Performance is always misleading. Score well in bench mark does not means it will perform well in day to day usage.
Yes performance on paper doesn't equals up to daily performance.
Which also says the same for Snapdragon sometimes. The heating and all sometimes lag and affects performance usage.
MTK has grow a lot better and bridging into the higher-end devices and going head on to Snapdragon someday. It take time.. if you look into their portfolio you might start to understand. Right now what's on this XiaoMi is a higher-mid range processor and not to compare with SD810 or so but more so with a in between SD615 to SD800

Think this is purly Xiaomi marketting decision by Xiaomi.sg. Never notice Apple or Samsung did the same to Singapore market. Get get the latest and in general, during the first launch too.

its 229....
please do not expect snapdragon quality here

Well, this is a incorrect statement. I had Redmi 1 and 1S before. Same price, but 1S is snapdragon! If you compared 1 and 1S. Is world of different in day to day usage.

Actually if you were to see, the Note 3 is actually the same as Note 2, it's just a refreshed design, a newly-added fingerprint reader and the larger 4000mAh battery.
I believe it could due to the fact that Xiaomi is facing intensive competition in China and they have to out such a product in order to gain a ground there. :)

Plus metal body design.
And most important. If you consider the dual network version which can work in Singapore. They are basically selling at same price of 899 yen. So need not to say, Redmi Note3 is a batter choice.
