My pw3 2015 arrived 2 days ago. I have the old pw2 but pw3 is a nice upgrade of screen res. The new bookerly font is also very pleasant to look at. Don't really know what amazon can improve on this device in the 2016 version... I hope they play with the screen size though.

To be honest I would love to be able to read manga but it would require a bigger screen...I tried putting a few manga which are pdf by converting it to mobi but the fonts are too small and have to zoom...

Another prob with reading manga on pw is the speed. PW flips and zooms too slowly compared to a tablet. I've more or less given up reading pdf or manga on the pw as well.

Now I think I know why Amazon is shipping 4 GBs Paperwhite instead of 2 GBs. They're more or less forced to do so because the firmware itself is now taking up 1GB! Previously the firmware took up a lot less space.

very tempted to update to the latest PaperWhite (mine is the previous gen one)
anyone owns both? - does the increase in PPI make an apparent difference?

It will not make an obvious difference at least to me. If you already have PW2, just keep it.

Any idea if it's a must to buy giftcards and a VPN's a must to get Amazon ebooks?

That's the ideal setup. But sometimes I forgot to turn the vpn on but could still buy ebooks without issue. I always use the gift card though.

Anyway, there are ebooks that can be purchased in Singapore now, if I'm not mistaken. You can use local card without vpn, but the range of ebooks you can buy is smaller than the one available to the us market.

What about the free ebooks periodically on Amazon then?

I may be wrong, but a subset of kindle ebooks are available for purchase in Singapore for a few months already. If you log in as a user with local address, they'll display kindle ebooks available to us.

If this is true, it's funny they still refuse to sell the kindle device directly to Singapore. :)

Yeah that's true. Need a us address , VPN and giftcards to have widest selection of books.

Hi all,
I have been thinking about buying a kindle to read books but I'm considering between a tablet and kindle.

My main purpose is to read ebooks and PDF files
Reading manga would be good as well
With all that in mind, would it be reasonable to buy a kindle paperwhite second hand or should I stick with a tablet since it's more versatile?
