the SBR top accounting firm is out: this year increase to 30 firms 25 in the past.

general increase in staffs over almost all firms, but i guess, probably the best chance for people to get it big now still lies with GTsg

I heard EY is massively recruiting recently, even interns. Given that they lost some huge clients, does this mean they had a higher than normal turnover recently and hiring to make up lost numbers? anybody with more info?

I don't think staff will leave because the firm lost clients...

In any case, I've heard the same. Guess pple are just leaving audit in general. But, those pple I know who applied to EY (myself included) still didn't receive any calls so ....... Lol.

I'm super unhappy in audit now but I actually feel like I have no chance to leave anymore..not until peak is over. Lol. Jobs have been planned already. Feel crazy enough to resign even without a job, but feel like manager will kill me if I choose to tender now.

Actually, just curious, why are people unhappy in audit? Work load? Superior? Teammates?

No they are not hiring. They are using more interns and filipinos instead to do assistants work.

You can try...and you will know

I am in. But unlike what others described prior to me joining the industry, everyone I noe in real life from my coy and other coy told me they are relatively happy/alright with working in audit. It seemed like only online and friend's friends are unhappy --> this I'm trying to understand why.

Well, like i said the people i noe from my coy and other coys too. Im just curious what makes people so unhappy abt audit since it seemed like the pple in real life ive spoken to are generally happy/alright working in audit (myself included).

Of course, there's some days u need to ot till 1 to 2am in the morning or even later. Well, i have a few years working of commercial experience (bank and listed coy). Audit is not the most stressful among the jobs ive worked. In fact it is one of the more work life balanced job. So i dont really understand when people said its a more 'xiong' industry as compared to commercial accounting. Or is it people who work in audit are generally fresh grads with no other prior job experience to compare to? Im not sure. Or maybe the happy ones just dont comment at all so it seemed like audit industry has many negative comments.

I guess it depends on your portfolio. Some of my colleagues have a relatively easy life cause of good portfolio while some have to slog their lives out.
I am quite unhappy with audit at times cause of how not my sh*t can become mine suddenly. Guess sometimes it sux to be the more responsible one. I also have tried ot -ing till wee hours for 2 months straight. The sense of satisification is only when your partner review the awp without review points or when the accounts are signed.

No doubt, I know that audit provides very valuable experience thus I'm still in audit.

I agree. Hahaha. Auditors are rather underpaid for the first 2 years. The huge increment from associate to senior don't really justify the increase in workload too.

it means you are good what, plus points for appraisal. anyway the sh*t thingy is common everywhere not just in audit.

burning out is one of the killer for any auditor, one of my partners told me the audit career is a marathon and not a sprint. no point chionging super hard for one year but burning out the subsequent year.

so jia you ba and hope you could speak to your mentor/seniors about your workload! :s22:

yea... it's a marathon....
as long as you can endure and stay on... progression is very visible unlike in other jobs
