Hello!

You can Install KIES3 - Samsung's phone suite from here: http://www.samsung.com/sg/support/usefulsoftware/KIES/

and then check for updates! :)

hi!! solved it last night by downloading the .TAR file for XSP 5.1.1 OJ6 firmware and flashed with Odin. simple and straightforward :s13:

i tried KIES but they said oh it's outdated now all change to smart switch, which i already have, but it refused to update my software.

anyway I think that "bad" battery life is most likely due to the LTE modem.. due to the Exynos SoC, Samsung is unable to use Qualcomm's LTE modems, thus using their in-house "Shannon" modem for networks.. which I suspect is why the battery drains quick when on bad LTE.

you can read up more about the Exynos 7420 on AnAndTech

Seriously I am not sure what the 2 arrows are for. Anyone can enlighten?

I have disabled VoLTE on my S6E and N5 but the arrows are still there.

Not sure about the LTE Modem thingy but all phones I tried with Exynos, SD810/808/801/615 all suffers badly when on LTE.

I would suspect our LTE coverage sucks badly as I remembered when I was in HK and Taiwan, I didn't encounter such LTE battery drain issue. And to add on to that, their 3G speed is comparable to our 4G speed.....

well it could be a contributing factor la.. Qualcomm's integrated LTE modems are more experienced, I suppose?

anyway yes our network sucks. not good for battery life when you're on MRT and suddenly LTE becomes very slow and throttled 3G

for me the 2 arrows are perpetually there as long as I'm on 4g...at first I also suspected that that's what's causing my battery drain, but another forumer did mention that that has nth to do w battery drain.

Right now "android OS" and "android system" are top of the chart on my battery list.

Managed to get around 3 hours++ SOT today tho..

Is android os and android system kept awake and wakelock because of connectivity?

Hello! What tweaks did u do? :D

Phone battery lasted till this morning with 4 hours 47 minutes of screen on time. And of course, this is with WIFI connected the entire day while I'm at home.

Below is what I did, may or may not help as I'm connected to WIFI throughout. Have not try with mobile data only.

1) Restart the phone after full charge.
2) Select 'Scan only while WIFI is on' under WIFI > Always allow scanning
3) Brightness set to the lowest with auto on.
4) Do not allow VoLTE for outgoing calls.
5) I have a black theme and black wallpaper.
6) Before I did all this, I reconditioned the battery, drained it from 100% to completely switched off by itself.

Hello, how long does a s6 usually last and is it good? I am thinking of getting a new phone from Samsung.

Not exactly due to that. Fact is our 4g is far from perfect and telco are already trying to charge it as a premium service. I think performance would only improve after they officially sunset 2g.
