Ts bo hua lah....how you lost the io shield? If really dun have, just use masking tape to block off whatever gaps u can find. In time, u change the pc, who cares abt the io shield?

Sent from Asus ME173X using GAGT

This motherboard was given to me w/o the i/o plate. Since it is still working, I rather use it then let it waste.

I suggest you keep the money, take a cardboard and cut out the ports and ta-da. Solves your issue

I DIYed, lasercut i/o shield using 1mm thick acrylic.

Whoa, won't this be more expensive than ebaying the I/O plate?

I was about to say if can 3D print the I/O plate, but that sounded too expensive too :s22:

Lasercut is not as expensive as 3D printing which need at least 2 hours for this shape and size. Lasercut can do it within 15 minutes if you already drawn the layout in either cdr or dxf format. The time taken is almost the same as cutting 120mm fan grill. :)

he used the board but at the back got longkang :s12: air dust all go in

Lol, dust can also go in via other areas of the case, unless his case is special in the sense that the i/o plate is the only opening throughout the case.

I will use I/O shield as long as available.

Might not matter to most users but I tend to plug and unplug thumb drives, LAN cable, USB accessories etc.. for testing. Without the I/O shield, quite difficult to plug in as it might accidentally stuck in-between the ports (been there done that)

I/O cover can laser cut or not, or must 3D print?

I was thinking of duplicating my X99 Xpower's I/O cover to cover up the shiny silver ports of my other older mobos that didn't have such technology yet.

An I/O cover (a.k.a motherboard armour) looks like this:
