I toss and turn, trying to sleep but I can't. 1 question keeps haunting me...

'Am I ready to leave a mature estate with lots of amenities, for a non mature estate that doesn't have much?' :(

The place you're living right now was non matured to begin with..

Basic amenities for a non matured location would be there or within walking distance.

Ya but when I came here, all is there oredi. So used to the convenience. It scares me a little to think that I have to go back to basics.

Silly I Know... just paranoid I guess.

If you are talking about Punggol, yes not many amenities because the place is barely 50% occupied. Even the west LRT line only has 3 stations operational. But if you are talking about Sengkang its not too bad. There are 4 malls there (1 under reno) and all their LRT stations are operational.

Having lived in both, some things I appreciate about non-mature estates:
- Flats are newer (obviously) so less chances of problems like leaking or spalling concrete for now.
- Rubbish chute outside the flat so no issues of cockroaches especially when they fog the bin.
- No windows along the corridors so there is more privacy.
- Flats have service yard instead of the old fashioned bamboo sticks pointing outwards which means no more wet laundry dripping on your stuff and no more rubbish being thrown out the windows and landing on your laundry.
- Its a younger crowd which suits me just fine since I'm reasonably young.

All in all, I would prefer a more matured non-mature estate.

Oh my! All your points is like taking the words out of my mouth. My place now have windows along main corridor and I hate that cos I can't open the windows. Strangers and sales person will always peep in. So windows is always close and it gets stuffy.

I'm just gonna miss the amenities here. 24hr ntuc, 24hr Sheng shiong, 2hr coffeeshop, clinic that opens till 11pm. Lots of busses that goes to all parts of Singapore.

See how fickle minded I am.

I moved from a matured estate at Central area to punggol 3 years ago. I don't like it and still don't. Next month will be moving to new BTO flat near central area.

I fully agree. I moved from Tampines to Sengkang and had a real horrible time getting used to being hungry in the middle of the night without things to eat. Back then Sengkang had no MRT even!

Look at it now!

I'm glad I moved to Sengkang <3

Have to understand and manage the expectation..

In the first place, have to see the reason why one would wana move to a non-matured estate and knowing it's a new estate, expectation of nearby amenities should be lowered, Good enough but definitely not overwhelming..

That's why non matured estates are cheaper. The question is whether you want to be the one buying cheap and "investing" until it becomes matured in 5-7 years time, or the one paying more to get everything there from day 1.

I will also be moving from mature to non-mature. Really no choice for us, because mature estate are really abit tough on our financial means. You didn't know, how strongly my parents objected when we wanted to go for Sengkang, I have to cry and beg then they finally relent.not much of the getting use for me, but leaving my old age parents behind at their current place pains me, and they doesn't want to move with us.... no choice..

My parents was hoping I would take bidadari as it's nearer to them. But my 3 other siblings are staying very near them so I don't feel so bad being the black sheep and choose to stay further. :D

So while waiting for my Q number to be called, I have to really really Really decide between convenience or my dream flat.
