Is DIY-ing a NAS cheaper than buying frm these standard retailers? I tried to, didnt really manage to make a NAS. End up use Filezilla instead.

Synology RT1900ac Router

Antenna: 3x3 MIMO Omni-directional high-gain dipole (2.4GHz / 5GHz)
Wi-Fi Speed: AC1900, 802.11n, 600Mbps +802.11ac 1300Mbps
LAN: 4 x 1000Mbps
WAN: 1 x 1000Mbps
External: USB 3.0, SD Card Reader

Warranty: 2 years

The only advantage with the Synology RT1900ac against my ASUS AC68U is the Synology Router Manager.

With the SRM, monitoring of traffic is excellent. The level of details from it UI puts any other competitors to shame. It provides details on how each packets travels between LAN as well as wireless with their mac address. I don't think any other manufacturer does that! This router is definitely

All in all, powerful firmware(SRM) match with average specs. I hope Synology could address this in the near future and introduce something more powerful with sweeter price-tag.
