Agree to this... Sat in the car during motorshow, the interior is so bare... I was thinking who will buy this?? Still so many ppl buy, really is "eat" the Toyota name...

Altis interior might be simple but definitely better than the plasticky interior of many korean cars. I thought my son's toy car :o

toyota cars are really slow to catch up, in terms of interior design... their camry dashboard is so dated its embarrassing.

I was quite keen to book an Altis but until recently i start to consider new Elantra. Heard that it is cheaper and having more features like 6 airbags and Apple Carplay HU etc. I have yet to verify the claims.

Anyhow, COE is going south, maybe it is better to wait and see, unless really need the drive urgently.

2017 Elantra, will be out later this year.

Have test driven both Altis and Kia K3 to compare. Found that in fact the interior of K3 actually feels more premium than Altis altho Altis has slightly larger legspace.

K3 (and some other Kimchi rides) actually have leather trims all over the interior and the features that most japs and Conti makes dun have. The NVH insulation and comfort is also comparable as well.

You may say Jap rides have better and reliable engines and will make lesser trips to workshops for repair. What I get from users of Kimchi rides are some do not actually have any major problems throughout their 5-7yrs of driving. The amount of $$$ saved from cost of cars (>$10K) definitely beats the difference in repair costs (If any). Just look at the specs of Hyundai and Kia and visit their showrooms to have a look....

Therefore I would say Kimchi cars may not be as popular as Jap cars nowadays, but they definitely dun fall back in terms of quality and reliability.

My personal opinion.
